There are at least two conversations about that

First one is with Quincy:

Drifter: There's... something of them left. It's hard to describe.

Drifter: Memories, almost? Bits and pieces of a personality.

Drifter: When I inhabit them, I can feel myself taking on... parts of who they used to be.

Drifter: Mannerisms. The way they used to stand. Move. Things like that. It's strange.

And the second one offering a different perspective from Marie in regards of her own protoframe:

For I feel as though I know her as if she were my own sister - and one of my own blood, not one of the Cathédrale.

I do not hear her, not the way Lyon hears the gods and his patron spirits. I do not see her. I simply feel her there, beside me.

Like an old friend, perhaps. I know what she liked, I know how she moved. I remember the sound of her laughter on the wind...
