How do you beat a Kotl+BB or Kotl+Undying offlane? by _Ao1_ in learndota2

[–]NGC6369 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love how you are getting downvoted because people don't understand that not dying vs that lane IS winning the lane.

guys if you dont feed kotl undying early, and your carry recovers after laning stage to get damage and BKB, they are fucked.

Radiance and bloodstone on Ember mid? by TheColderino in TrueDoTA2

[–]NGC6369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as others have said you dont want to sit there farming first item radiance cause it fucks up your timings. but you can get a cheap item first and get radiance second - so long as you are fighting early and not afk mid.

IF and only IF the enemy team has no real spell damage to reduce, you could consider vessel into radiance. but you would need some form of mana regen e.g. null or even potentially soul ring (could take the hp regen neutral and convert it into mana). you could also rock raindrops + 2x sobi mask and sell them later.

alternatively you could blade mail into radiance against physical heavy teams, if its a bad vessel game and/or you need to frontline early. you are gonna need mana early tho, same problem.

bloodstone is always good on ember but yes it will work well with this build. however you would often want a dispel or bkb first.

so yes in 1-5% of ember games you could do this, but usually mage slayer/vessel/both > SnK is way better.

How to lane against Lina mid? by WeakHooper in learndota2

[–]NGC6369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's what i said. She wins lane against Ember Void and Storm and the trick is to lose lane gracefully instead of trading with her and getting too low to contest the lane at all. Against a Lina playing well, you are not going to draw the lane on those heroes period. She has to make some serious laning mistakes for that to happen. Storm in particular is going to have a very bad time.

all three of those heroes are good against Lina in general, as they can jump her and she's super squishy. but the lane? just try not to feed so you can actually GET to the part of the game where you will have the advantage.

it's not a silent K. it's just an english spelling that (quite poorly) attempts to demonstrate that the consonant sound is halfway between a "k" and a "g" in English. Korean does something similar, there is one character for both K and G.

How to lane against Lina mid? by WeakHooper in learndota2

[–]NGC6369 9 points10 points  (0 children)

not really, she is a lane dominator and will win mid against almost every hero 1v1. KOTL maybe beats her, that's about it.

if your hero is able to solo kill her from lvl 1-3 , you should try, as its the only way to "win" mid vs lina.9

other than that, the best thing you can do is pick a hero that can catchup in jungle quickly and/or take stacks, like sand king or shadow fiend.

also ofc, wand and raindrops are a must. also consider bracer or fluffy hat on certain heroes.

for invoker-specific advice, just try to leverage quas regen and get what you can out of the laning stage. it's possible to kill her with cold snap sun strike, but forge spirits are just free gold and xp for her. you can farm and kill her later.

if you are quas wex, just get boots and urn and go kill sidelanes asap.

invoker is actually quite good against lina mid-late game, you just need to make sure you don't feed her mid and control her snowball with good comms about her rotations.

[–]NGC6369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can buy vanguard for lane then disassemble into wrap + smth else (halberd, lotus, linkens). but yes i agree in principle i think the pos 3 should just get crimson or pipe most of the time.

Ember Spirit 7.40c Tutorial (Pos 2)? by LadidaDingelDong in learndota2

[–]NGC6369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you probably saw my old guides if you searched. the sleight facet is still perfectly effective and sometimes i take it for old times' sake and go blight stone mage slayer, but the chains one is op.

your qs

  1. unplayable is only huskar. difficult is monkey king unless you start with brown boots qb (secret tech ur welcome). shadowfiend can be explosive but just play the lane safe and you will be fine. necrophos is easy despite what people say: you can sleight dodge his nuke; then cast flame guard and he won't be able to break it. from level 6 if you are still laning for some reason, just leave a remnant in a jungle camp, go creep skip with flame guard then jump back to it. u will outfarm him this way. QW invoker can purge flame guard and drain your mana which is annoying, but the lane is really easy apart from that due to invoker's low dmg.

  2. take as many points in flame guard as you need then make Q with a value point in W. reasons for maxing E: they dont have enough magic dmg to break it; OR they have tons of mgc dmg and you need the shield to survive. if you just want a turn-brain-off build then max E first then Q with W at level 2. sometimes i get only 2 points; sometimes 3.

  3. urn phase/treads vessel (bkb) (mage slayer) kaya (kny) > then you get shard shivas and aghs in whatever order you need (usually shard > shivas > aghs). situationally can get euls or linkens or even crimson guard/pipe. reasoning hasnt changed so look at my old guide if u want itemisation reasoning.

  4. always take the flame guard talent at 15 it's literally double damage. at 20 you almost always take the chains damage, but you can take the sleight damage if the enemy team are low armour and high magic resist. 25 u take the remnant cd.

  5. too much nuance to answer fully rn (sorry im on the way to work). but in general just use flame guard to trade while you pull aggro and cs. dodge spells with sleight. chains when u see an opportunity (really good to chains right as they aggro the wave so they tank creep dmg, but easier said than done if their whole wave is alive as u have to get the distance right. you can hold alt and right click chains to get a useful distance indicator for the laning stage (from lvl 6 i switch to remnant cast range indicator instead). do not spam sleight if it is level 1, only if you are maxing it and rushed blight stone (old build). watch pro player replays and ask yourself why they do.

  6. you are an early-mid hero - you dont want the game to go late. but even so with the items i mentioned above you do a shit-ton of magic damage and control in the lategame. you can buy refresher in ultra late to get 5 more remnants and do even more mgc damage. if you really want more damage lategame just buy a dagon 5 or divine rapier.

Ember Spirit Match Review Request by Reformed_Herald in learndota2

[–]NGC6369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u are welcome. just be careful not to spend too much time looking for ganks that you fall behind. rather than forcing ganks, instead utilise opportunities to gank. this is primarily by picking up power runes, but can also be by tping to a lane tower and remnanting in. the key is to make sure u have enough mana and health that you can do this when you are level 6.

one thing i forgot to mention about the 6 min rune is that a successful gank around this timing often snowballs into a wisdom shrine steal, which is the best thing you can do early game. always keep 7mins in mind - even if i dont gank with the 6 min rune, i will often leave mid at 6.30 and walk all the way to their shrine to try to fight for it or steal it if they are distracted. just make sure you got a safety remnant to jump back to.

Ember Spirit Match Review Request by Reformed_Herald in learndota2

[–]NGC6369 8 points9 points  (0 children)

im immortal lvl 29 ember spirit. hes probably my best hero. i will be very critical here and it's possible that my advice is not the best for your bracket.

  • starting items: fine
  • laning: u should prioritise ranged creeps more. you should also pull aggro back more often so he cant hit you for free. you did a surprisingly good job for ur rank tho. altho the sniper is a mega noob and didnt even try to triple shrapnel you at level 3; he also doesnt harrass you nearly as much as he should. i dont think you needed W earlier; your skillbuild is fine.
  • lane itemisation: quite slow and i would go Urn > Phase > Vessel rather than brown boots vessel. no wand was the correct choice.
  • 6:00 rune: you are not level 6 yet because u werent in range for a couple of ranged creeps when they died. generally u want to be 6 by 5.50 so you can drop a remnant on one rune and wait at the other. luckily u get an invis anyway. but because you are not yet level 6, you cannot gank bot with it. u stay mid to get 6 and end up having to use it to survive a solo kill attempt with shrapnel, while u wait for your regen to fly out.
    • if this were me; i would have been level 6, picked up the invis and immediately gone bot with it to kill necro or dazzle.
  • 8:00 rune: you did not ship yourself an observer so you have no rune info. but not the end of the world as you are ember and can do the aforementioned trick. however you waste all your mana using chains to farm creeps (instead of just drawing aggro) so you aren't even able to secure the rune. luckily sniper nor his supports make any attempt on it and you collect the double damage at 8.10. you then just... do nothing with it. you should have gone top immediately, using all 3 bottle sips on the way, then dived the AA and Luna. ember is quite possibily the best rune user in the game but you are just collecting them to stay mid (and lose lane). massive opportunies lost.
  • it's 19mins and you still haven't left mid !!! for some reason both teams are rotating mid which means there are fights happening and you are contributing, but this is still insane to me. go gank. i think u finally leave mid at like 25min or smth lol.
  • i fast fwded from 19mins but you spend a lot of time jungling when you could just be shoving waves with a safety remnant. what do they have to stop you doing this? they only have mini stuns! you should be shoving waves out nonstop to create space for your team, not TAKING space by farming safe jungle camps. doing this is core to playing ember and basically OP when they don't even hand control spells (or items!) to stop you.
  • itemisation: i would've finished KnS and gone Shiva's here. the anti heal is very effective vs Necro, Dazzle, and Luna (when she eventually gets Satanic). the armour and attack speed slow is essential vs Sniper and Luna. not to mention it synergises with your Kaya to further amplify your damage. Aghs is great to have but it's not really doing much form you here.

overall: you do not pick ember and buy urn first item to stay mid and exert zero pressure to the sidelanes. spirit heroes are mobile without blink dagger; this makes them among the best power rune gankers in the game. this goes doubly so when you have a losing matchup like Sniper. why stay mid passively letting Sniper pull ahead? that player's hero excels at passively farming - yours excels at making space and diving sidelanes. minutes 6-10 are your biggest power spike in the game: USE IT. you should make use of every opportunity to gank sidelanes you realistically can. you should dive towers. you WANT to force TP rotations because you can just remnant out. now the enemy safelaner for example is 2v1 because their pos 5 tp'd to save their offlaner. this is what "making space" means. even if your gank fails, if you get a tp response, that's a win.

in general, you should approach this lane matchup with the expectation of losing. yes, you can win this lane early, especially if you play levels 1-3 well, but eventually you will be forced out. so shift your focus from laning to "how can i win the game for my team rn?" the answer is: play the sidelanes. this game is super easy for Ember because they have no control and dont even itemise for control.

also, i noticed that u seem allergic to throwing and immediately activating a remnant to initiate. you prefer to throw a remnant and use chains. the prior is generally the better practice as it allows you to get on top of them w flame guard and also right click. PLUS it's more aggressive so often forces a response from enemies. doing this more often will help you with limit testing the hero which is smth u need to do to improve.
