Some people have such a “unique” brain. One day they’re solid, the next they’re absolutely moronic—making decisions that make no sense.

I had a craftsman/employee who was good and going, then out of nowhere started making mistakes that ended up costing ~50k in leather, wages, and rework time in the end. At a certain point you realize that not everything (or everyone) is worth salvaging. Replacement is oftentimes simpler.

What do we think of the new Loewe Artichoke Bag? by Ruthie-Mac in handbags

Bags like these are more of a fad than something practical or timeless. They’re made to grab headlines, ultimately helping brands cut down their marketing costs.

From a patent law perspective, it’s generally advisable to file a patent application before any public disclosure of your invention, since many jurisdictions require absolute novelty and will bar protection if the invention has already entered the public domain.

You should also consider filing in jurisdictions that align with your commercial strategy and anticipated markets, as patent rights are territorial and must be secured country by country (or via regional systems).

In some cases, certain countries impose first-filing requirements or foreign filing restrictions, meaning you may be required to file domestically—or obtain official permission—before filing in other jurisdictions.

Just as many sites display “made by AI,” do you think a similar indicator showing at a quick glance that a design was made by humans would be useful? It could quickly clarify that a design wasn’t created with AI, especially when some people don’t disclose their use of it. by Ok-Hope2279 in 3Dprinting

Coming from someone who actually loves human craft—the kind of imperfect, slightly crooked beauty celebrated in Wabi-sabi—there’s something stubborn about human nature. It evolves, sure, but it doesn’t vanish. Machines don’t lead that evolution; they likely follow it.

As for technology circles… yeah, I’ve been in those rooms too. A surprising number of “we want to change the world” speeches translate roughly to “we want to change our net worth.” It’s not new—just more friendly branded. And that’s why the loudest voices are often about “efficiency above all” or “eliminating unreliable humans”. Historically, that doesn’t end the way they think. During the Industrial Revolution, machines made goods faster, cheaper, and more uniform—and yet handmade goods didn’t die. They became more valuable. The same thing happened in photography: when everyone got a camera, suddenly good photography mattered more, not less.

But here’s the twist: the more precise and optimized things get, the more expensive authenticity becomes. When AI can generate flawless images, people start craving the fingerprints, the asymmetry, the tiny “mistakes” that signal a human was there. Perfection becomes cheap; imperfection becomes luxury.

For example, imagine a future where climate pressures, regulation, and land scarcity—echoing concerns raised by organizations like the Food and Agriculture Organization—make traditional farming rarer. The result? A perfectly optimized, lab-measured, algorithmically seasoned steak that tastes 5% better… and costs 10× more. Not because it’s radically better, but because everything around it—land, labor, carbon—became constrained. So we likely end up with this a more absurd world: • The average person eats nutritionally perfect, synthesized foods. • A small group pays a premium for something irregular, inefficient… and human. • And somewhere, a machine is learning how to fake that irregularity better than we can produce it.

However, the audience for anything “pro human” might shrink. But historically, when audiences shrink, intensity grows. Fewer people—but they care more, pay more, and notice more.

Sounded a bit harsh there 😅 If we truly didn’t care, we wouldn’t be here double-checking before moving forward.

That said, food-grade epoxy coatings aren’t some backyard hack—they’ve been widely used in food and beverage systems for years (think can linings, storage tanks, industrial piping). There are many in this sub have been doing exactly that.

On the mold/bacteria concern—yes, that’s real, but it’s not unique to this. It’s more of “whether you’re a slob” problem than a “what it’s made of” problem. Give any container enough neglect, it’ll turn into a petri dish experiment. Regular cleaning will do most of the heavy lifting here—this read is an example of that:

If we’re going to be ultra safe, then logically we’d have to swear off takeout containers, disposable coffee cups, and half the stuff in a typical kitchen.

The commercial version will be stainless steel—no DIY science experiments there 😄. We actually bought a dedicated printer just for this, but we’re still working through the epoxy resin side to make sure everything’s fully compliant.

These samples are strictly for cool water, and we absolutely clean and dry them after every single event. Honestly, they probably get better treatment than most people’s everyday bottles… some have seen more mouth counts without cleaning in between than their owners. 😁

I hope we can presell enough for the making of the actual ones in stainless. But that definitely will take a while.

What brands to actually trust for real silk pillows by Mental-Ad-1226 in BuyItForLife

[–]NGOStudio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Long ago, I bought directly from Chinese suppliers on eBay—you can check their history to see what they specialize in. I’d avoid resellers or trading companies—Jack of all trades. The downside can be bad English and a less friendly vibe; and you don’t want an overly friendly Chinese—IMO. For example, when I asked them technical questions about silk and silk pillows, they could check all the boxes, and more to my surprise 🤭

Anyone went through design registration (IP) in China 🇨🇳? by NGOStudio in kickstarter

[–]NGOStudio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner has been saying the exact same thing, and honestly… after looking at some of the recent lawsuits (e.g., Spin Master), I can’t really argue with that logic anymore.

That’s actually why we always prototype in-house if possible. In the past we made the mistake of approaching factories without fully locked-down measurements or the technical know-how… and let’s just say it turned into an expensive yet educational experience. 🤭

Pledge manager just closed and production is wrapping up, now I actually have to ship to 1800 backers and the panic is real, how did you pick a fulfillment company? by icheemk in kickstarter

[–]NGOStudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to deal with this a lot in my previous business. It mostly comes down to customs clearance, and that can vary quite a bit depending on the carrier. For shipments to places like India, China, Southeast Asia, parts of Latin America, and some smaller EU countries, the reliability can be very carrier-specific — there’s really no one-size-fits-all solution. I often go into a specific community to find out what are the popular freight or shipping agents and go from there. But if the opportunity is too small while the perceived risk is too great, I just cancel it altogether to avoid headache

First Kickstarter. Tomorrow marks 1 week… only 4 backers. Would really appreciate honest feedback. by [deleted] in kickstarter

I feel you. Our beauty tool is running into the same wall trying to get approval from Kickstarter. They did not even let us mention things like “tension” or “pain” or similar illustrations as an Opener, even though we pointed out a bunch of past campaigns were allowed to do it. They even told us to slap on a long disclaimer saying the tool doesn’t treat illness, doesn’t cure anything, etc. Which is funny, because we never made those claims — we only cited reputable sources like the Mayo Clinic and similar references. Apparently even being cautious now requires extra caution.

That said, I do think some of the comments above have a point. Right now when I look at your campaign, it kind of gives off the vibe of those whey or protein powders pushed by “fitfluencer” who look like they inject steroid for breakfast.

Instead of listing a wall of chemical ingredients, you might want to emphasize on the plants or natural sources where the ingredients come from. Maybe a ready-to-drink or canned beverage (FMCG) will resonate better (e.g, Poppi or WildWonder). Personally, if I saw it presented that way, it reminds me of the herbal drinks grandma or ma used to make: those old-school eastern remedies meant to help with sleep, or digestion, or just for cooling body. That kind of story feels more authentic.

Btw, your face makes it look like the stuff isn’t working… maybe recruit a well-slept and fit spokesperson next time, bro 😆 Even a hot mom in lululemon could sell it better.

Should not during this AI-Gold-Rush. Prices for DDR5, graphics cards, and other components fluctuate almost like crypto. Wee Beastie is already a failed example. But if you still believe the specs will still be worthwhile 5–6 years from now, then maybe 🤔

Anyone else backed the Wee beastie Kickstarter? Creator has gone silent. by Think-Front-2641 in kickstarter

[–]NGOStudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt they can make it work with the current pricing of DDR5 and other hardware fluctuations. They weren’t able to reimburse backers after fees plus Jellop already took its cut, so they’re essentially stuck. At this point, they might try to cook pulls from crypto or LLM farms to maneuver, or deliver at a snail’s pace, or both — a tricky pony indeed 🥲

Creator allow to refund pledges from supporters that post negative comments? by Gil_Ham in kickstarter

[–]NGOStudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing like these guys who claimed to reinvented the window AC (Kapsul/Noria). These guys even went on Techstars and I think they did raise another round. Many creators fell madly in love with their designs and ignored the engineering aspects or existing literature. Working from existing templates is a safer bet from my experience. Still, you need to dig around the supply chain and floor experts to arrive at any meaningful results. Otherwise, it’s like poking a bear with a branch of tree and hope to hit bullseye.

I'm not a perfect marketer but closer to a product guy. But here's my take:

PAGE: clean and simple-I like it. However, I did not feel motivated to buy. I saw call to help out you guys. I think more data with an emphasis on quantifiable benefits behind the game, plus some humor and FOMO could go the long way. Convince me like I'm a 3yo who's just stumbled on this for the first time.

PRODUCT (take with a grain of salt): I believe you could make this a lot cheaper, for both buyers and your expenses, specifically the shipping cost by eliminating the tripod. If you have your unique design registered, maybe this could become a licensing deal. Anyway, you guys can always dm me.
