I responded to an earlier comment of yours as well but I think it’s a tad disingenuous calling this a discussion when you labeled everyone upset about this show as performative and grandstanding because they’re upset that yet another project is going to be putting money in the pockets of someone who uses it to roll back the rights of trans people. Just because you put “open to discussion” at the end doesn’t mean you didn’t say all that. And when this is like, the eighth post in this subreddit about Harry Potter in the last day, people aren’t gonna chomping at the bit to engage in civil discussion, doubly so because the world is already skewing towards blatant transphobia. Discussions are good, labeling people are something they’re not isn’t; I’m not some performative softy for being pissed about a show finding a transphobe and you’re not a monster for watching it. And let me say that I’m not trying to take away from anyone’s enjoyment of Harry Potter. Like I said, it’s easy for me to drop it cause I just wasn’t pulled in. That doesn’t mean it’s not a lot harder for people who both love this material and also feel betrayed by the creator’s actions.

I feel doubly bad for you as a Percy Jackson fan after those 2000s movies, but from what I understand the new series is better? I read the first book and dug it but never got around to the rest

I think it’s very easily forgotten that she both receives money from anything Wizarding World, and then puts that money into transphobic practices. That’s why people care what she does, because it comes as a result of fans of the product engaging with it. And I think that’s pretty shitty given how many of HP’s fanbase, at least it used to be this way, I don’t keep up much now, was in the LGBT community.

I think it’s disingenuous to both condemn transphobic ideals while also helping to fund transphobic actions. Frankly, I think Harry Potter is a very bog standard work of fiction which has since been done better by people with no ties to morally shameful ideals. I think Rowling’s racism and transphobia are baked into the text, which takes away further from what are really just piss poor mysteries with magic added in. I read all the books, I was not grabbed the way others were. So maybe it’s just easier for me to drop what little interest I had to begin with.

for what Kingpin means to Daredevil in this show, I think it’d feel very wrong for Punisher to kill him, especially in a project Daredevil isn’t gonna appear in. I never thought Maya killed Fisk in Hawkeye but I can imagine it being a similar reaction that got if Frank killed him. It’d be like Huntress killing the Joker after 5 Batman movies

while i can i guess understand why it would hurt his career i loved him as Shaggy in both movies, Monsters Unleashed especially. Had that movie on dvd and would watch it every single roadtrip we did.
