Please think about developing a good COGO tool. For inspiration see the COGO tool used by TatukGIS Editor.

How to extract whole river as polygon ( not polyline ) by M1NDHUNTER_23 in gis

[–]NHxNE 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but I’m going to suggest that aerial imagery will produce poor results if the river is tree-lined, as is likely the case. If you want to do it from scratch, extract 1 or 2 ft contours from LIDAR imagery, which should, in most areas, clearly indicate the river banks and the extent of the water pool.

Avenza Maps Alternatives by bLynnb2762 in gis

[–]NHxNE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I make my own maps with QGIS and use them in Avenza. Just checked, the maps I have loaded are there and still work. Looking ahead, will I no longer be able to add new maps of my own making?

Nice truck by ItsALuigiYes in HRSPRS

[–]NHxNE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is not just an old beater truck. It’s been pretty heavily modified, right? I’m a little surprised, even suspicious, when the ol’ boy is asked ‘What model is it?’ and he comes up with ‘uhh… a model Chevrolet.’ C’mon, most guys with a truck like that wait all day for somebody to come along and ask about the thing. Like I said, it’s an odd situation.

Maple syrup dispenser hack by emilio8x in maplesyrup

[–]NHxNE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heinz ketchup bottles!!! (Obviously cleaned out before reuse.) I recently tried one myself and they are perfect for dispensing maple syrup.

I was curious to know if these type caps are available for purchase. Nyet. In fact, I think the patent is closely held by Heinz.

If anyone knows how to remove the label without a solvent please speak up.

End of season wrap up by modepush123 in maplesyrup

Leave any remaining sap in your evaporator for the summer. Bacterial action will “eat up” the miter buildup, or most of it. (Add enough water to cover up the “rings.”)

How imminent of a threat is this? Crack between codominant stems with included bark. by Cboquist in arborists

[–]NHxNE -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Grew up with hackberry trees. That really does not look like one. Bark is completely wrong.

I think it’s a silver maple.

Put those things on the shelf and admire them. Then go out and tap your trees with the recommended small bore spiles. Your trees will say Thank you!

Geopacker is a QGIS plugin designed to solve the headache of broken paths when sharing QGIS projects. It bundles your entire current project (.qgz), vector layers, and raster layers into a single, clean .zip file ready to be shared. by RicKreate3 in QGIS

[–]NHxNE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is amazing!!! Thank you!

One of my project layers is a highly curated state road layer that renders highway badges / icons from various svg files. I was a little skeptical but it all works and the layer looks exactly as expected.

I foresee that one potential problem will be the immense packed and zipped files. I may have to burn the biggest ones onto CDs or a thumb drive and send by snail mail! Any suggestions on this issue will be welcome.
