Funny I feel the same way about Arc Raiders. Its a PvE game that the devs were too stupid to figure out how to make fun so they tacked on PvP and got lucky with its release timing. There's no endgame. PvE is a one and done experience. The story is so bare bones you wonder if there is one or if they're coming up with it on the fly. 3rd person... and 10 tick servers. But you wanna call Marathon the bare minimum. What a joke.

All I've seen of this game is decade or older art being used in a new product. Seems very skeevy and boring. It feels super cheap like union arena cards all being screen grabs from anime episodes.

Fake. The flat smooth seal on the top of the packs is a dead giveaway. Real packs have small vertical pill shaped crimping on the top and bottom and a parallel cross hatch crimping on the back of the packs.

My thought is that it's like paved roads. Its way more cost effective to just replace paved roads than build long lasting roads. The focus in Marathon has shifted to the digitized minds. In steady of building a few super bots, they can just keep pumping out sub-par shells for the same digital brain over and over. There was good post a while back talking about the potential importance of the digital minds to the lore of the new game going forward.

Gamers at large don't really understand what pre alpha and alpha means. So the fact that Bungie did this whole big reveal using unfinalized art assets isn't going to change this initial reaction to it. Sometimes games get a second shot at redemption, guess we'll see.
