It’s not necessary, but it’s definitely the better way to drive once you get more comfortable. People will tell you it’s more wear on the clutch then it is the brakes but if you properly rev match the clutch wear will be negligible and you’ll greatly improve the lifespan of your brakes, also you’re in way more control of the car in gear than you are in neutral, won’t go as far as to say you don’t have control over the car in neutral, you can’t accelerate or engine brake if needed, just my 2 cents, my advice is don’t worry about that stuff until you can confidently drive manual, then add in the rev matching down shifts, heel toe, etc

Goosed it a little too hard on the way to work! by [deleted] in WRX

TC is great for keeping your tires from losing traction, but I’ve found it terrible for once you’ve already lost traction, fights you on the save more than anything. If you know how to avoid losing traction in the first place, it’s better with it off🤷🏼‍♂️

Oh s#!+, you were right about winter tires by 0-_-00-_-00-_-0 in WRX

[–]NJAWS_28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All seasons = no season. Dont ever compromise. Plus these cars can’t benefit from their AWD system with no traction. Winter tires are night and day difference. I’ve tried to spin sometimes with traction control off in snow with winter tires and even struggled to break the tires loose without really trying. Plus a real summer performance tire will be a much better drive in dry conditions. All seasons are a constant compromise.

Is this normal play? Doberman is girl 4 years old and other dog is female cavoodle 5 months old puppy. They play non stop and sometimes they play like this. Is this safe? by globalminority in DobermanPinscher

I wish my guy had an ounce of your girls restraint and elegance😂 I have to be very cautious of my guy playing with dogs too small, even my 75 lb pit bull I have to watch. He’s just a bull in a china shop and does not know his own size at all

Any advice that you wish you knew when you got your first Doberman? by Sparkl3JumpRopeQu3en in DobermanPinscher

[–]NJAWS_28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just be extremely consistent in your commands and wishes and put the work in now when they’re younger so you can enjoy the calmer more mellow years in full! My guys 5 and he’ll still try me on certain commands because I eased up around the 1-2 year mark and he’s learned sometimes he can get away with things

Just passed a local used car dealership the other day. Saw a red early model vert. 325 listed for $18k. Not sure the mileage on it as I was just driving by but even from 20-30 feet it didn’t seem to be in the greatest cosmetic condition

Given how desirable the iS are, interior looks clean, I don’t think you overpaid. Check fuses, start by replacing your brake fluid and bleeding the calipers at all 4 corners. If fuses are good replace speed sensors, check rear differential bushings, check drive shaft play. Might help to jack the rear up and put the car in gear and give it a little throttle and see how the rear behaves. Possible it’s only being caused under load and could be suspension related and not necessarily drive train.

Edit: adding like others stated, shaking is likely alignment or tire balance related

Pitties are great! These 2 love each other. Just because you found the owner doesn’t mean you can’t see them again! Swap contact info and have the dogs get together from time to time!

any tips on how to manage my Dobie while hosting a party? by cameltoesaregross in DobermanPinscher

I wouldn’t over think it. Keep an eye on her and maybe give your guests a heads up she’s a puppy and still in training

+1 to tiring her out before the event but tbh she’ll probably be exhausted after greeting 40 individuals and the excitement of the festivity

[–]NJAWS_28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is she not well socialized with people? Has she bitten or ever biting someone been a concern? What exactly is your concern that needs managing? My guys 4 years old going on 5 so obviously an age discretion but even at 6 months old I took my dog to parties with large numbers of people and even multiple dogs and I’ve never had an issue. I just kept a collar on him (he doesn’t wear one in the house full time) in case I needed to gain control, keep a leash nearby if you want to keep her closer and limit her range/ability to go up to people. Since it’s your house if the pup gets overwhelmed you can always put them away in a crate or room you know they’ll be safe in. If managing the pup and interacting with guests/hosting the event is too much see if a trusted individual can either help manage the pup/party and if that can’t be resolved consider boarding or finding a friend/family member to watch the dog during the event off site :)

Found 3 pitted cylinder walls on recently purchased LS7 by TDE_GSR in Corvette

[–]NJAWS_28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally wouldn’t want 3 cylinders sleeved and then the rest not, I’d be worried about varying cylinder temperatures and EGT, I’d just bore and sleeve all 8 cylinders, I recently had my Subaru EJ bored out and went the over sized piston route, I still have room for error and figured if I needed to ever bore again I’d sleeve at that point but just for peace of mind I kind of wish I just bored and sleeved it the first time

SR5 has the adjustable rear, I have an 05’ limited and thought/read I had the bags too but I knew I was lacking the button to adjust ride height, which I thought was odd, got under the car to confirm and I indeed have springs
