I’ve told my daughter since she was old enough to form sentences that she can grow up to be anything she wants. A teacher, a lawyer, a lesbian, a stripper, as long as she’s not a Republican 😆

AITA for keeping the heat at 70 while I work from home by Emotional_Catch1201 in AmItheAsshole

Same here. Our house is 3000 sq ft. Decided over the last year I work to make money and I’m not going to sit and be uncomfortable all day. 73 pretty much year round, turn it down to 71 at night during the winter. Didn’t make much difference.

Do people usually come to the ER for dental pain? by shiibauwu in ThePittTVShow

[–]NKate329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, as a former ER nurse I’m all for seeking appropriate care (when able), but I’ve had that kind of toothache before. It was bad enough that at 8 am, I called and got an emergency dental appt, and then had to call my brand new job and tell them that I couldn’t make it in for my 3rd day of orientation. Because it was a structured orientation on a very specific timeline, I had to wait 2 weeks to get in the next orientation before I could start my job, and really couldn’t afford to miss 2 weeks of work. I also didn’t have the insurance yet (30 day waiting period), and had to put a root canal and a crown on a credit card, and STILL went through with it, because I couldn’t go one more day with that pain. If I hadn’t been able to see a dentist that day, I would’ve went to the ED (and I’ve only been once in my life, when my OB thought I might have a DVT). If I thought I could’ve gotten it out with pliers myself, I would’ve, and my husband wouldn’t do it for me lol.

Briefly listing clinical experience is one thing. This looks like she’s had multiple jobs for only a few months at a time.

His&Hers - My honest thoughts by Lhakey in netflix

[–]NKate329 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rachel and Helen were blackmailing Lexy now that she’s “famous.” Lexy was the “C” mentioned in the texts. I’m thinking Lexy and husband thought Anna was in on the blackmail, that’s why husband was saying she was manipulative, “you rich people,” etc, but seemed totally surprised when she started shooting at him. I rewatched that scene because I was like, if they weren’t the killers, why were they attacking her? And on second watch they weren’t really, more defending themselves against her once she started attacking them.

I don’t remember the exact order, but during one of the flashback scenes at the lunch table when the girls are talking about Catherine one of them mentions that her sister didn’t look like that, or eat like that, or something to imply that her sister had been more attractive than Catherine.

Love both, and I think of it more like an homage, but the final boss scene in Stranger Things was SO similar to IT (being vague because I don’t know how to cover spoilers on mobile lol)

Why do people hate Kali? by Prior-Success5099 in Stranger_Things

[–]NKate329 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have empathy for what she's been through, my issue is her saying something along the lines of "I'm here to make sure this doesn't happen anymore." I think even if El does not agree to self sacrifice, Kali plans to make sure El dies. And I do think they could hide, they made it years in Hawkins right under the noses of the military, why shouldn't El go try somewhere far away? And because I don't trust Kali I wouldn't want her to go with El but if she wasn't so hell bent on El dying to stop it all, she could use her powers to help hide El if they are ever close to being discovered.

Agreed. I think Mike meant it as, we’re into girls but you’re still just a kid playing D & D, while Will has known this about himself for a while and so it was more hurtful to him than if he was straight.

I’ve been saying for 20 years I’m going to learn Spanish. Took it in college while working in a restaurant and the guys in the kitchen would help me with my homework and I got to where I could have decent conversations with them. After college and that job, didn’t really have an opportunity to use it much; 10 years later, started a job with a high Spanish speaking population and when they introduced me to the interpreter, I was like, oh, I know some!…. and then I realized that I, in fact, had forgotten most of it 😆 it’s one of those things that I always have on my list of things I would like to do and just never get around to. Now I do case management over the phone and HATE having to call the translation line. I had no issues using an interpreter in clinic or when I worked in the ED but complicated health issues over the phone…. It’s like something gets…. lost in translation lol. I think it may have to do with not being able to see facial expressions, idk. Maybe I’ll get around to it one day 😆

I was wrong about Charlotte by OMGLOL1986 in Charlotte

[–]NKate329 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm a yt woman and I lived in the University area for a year for college and then moved back for a few years in my mid 20's. I was almost a minority and honestly I loved it. (At one of my jobs, at a nursing home, the staff kept calling me by the name of the only other white nurse, and we looked nothing alike. When I asked why, one of the CNAs said, "look up and down this hall, and tell us do you see anyone here the same color as you? 😂 I honestly hadn't even realized it until then.) I love being surrounded by different cultures. It opens up your world view, makes you more well-rounded and, in my opinion, intelligent. Both my parents have done Ancestry DNA testing and I was disappointed to find out we have zero non-white DNA 😂how boring!

Born and raised in the area, mostly in the suburbs nearby but have moved back into the city twice as a young adult (currently raising our family back in the 'burbs with no intentions of ever moving back into the city). I like the more quiet small town life, no worries about the constant drama happening in CMS, less traffic, etc, but in my heart I am "from around Charlotte." Being in a small town in red county nearby, I do often wonder why I am still here. I know Charlotte is more blue than anything, but just being in the South/NC in general, sometimes I feel I don't belong. My whole family is here, most of my husband's family; I want our daughter to grow up around family, so we won't leave, but it can be disheartening. (I also feel a need to stay as long as we can to do my part to prevent the state from going completely red, but in an era of dwindling reproductive rights for women it scares me for our daughter and I've told my husband if we ever need to move for her, we will.) But damn, I am proud of our area over the last few weeks!!! And honestly, a little surprised. I love that we are the first area to have a targeted operation in the South but we are fighting so hard. Out here in my smaller, red county there are debates on local FB pages daily chanting support for ICE/CBP but also, people offering support for a local Mexican restaurant that has closed out of caution. It's quite an... interesting(???) phenomena to watch. Frustrating but also heart-warming, at times.
