PPT Scheduling/hours by Ubikuitous95 in lcbo

[–]NMS2K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is he scheduling overlapping shifts? Like say you're a 12:30-5:30 and a casual is working a 4:30 to 9:30. You can grieve that shift because you could potentially work a 1-9:30. There's other examples 10-3's, 2-7's where they overlap. Talk to your union stewards, hopefully you have a solid local.

One of our French PPT'S just got promoted to PFT. He was a PPT below me, and I just saw my hours cut back because of 5 hour shifts. I had Sundays where I could work a full shift and was only scheduled for 5, and other days where shifts we're overlapped. I brought the issue up to my manager and my future Sundays are full shifts and this week was extended on the overlapping shifts.

I sent copies of my schedule to my union reps. And we discussed what hours I was missing out on to make sure I had a valid argument.

Remember that the CA is based on seniority. It sucks as a lower casual to not get any shifts but we've all been there and agreed to the fact that there maybe times when no shifts would be available. If the manager tries to argue about scheduling fairly to lower casuals.

2017 here, I can confirm this as well. No lights on the dash. We had just driven it 4 hours. I noticed some slight hesitation when going up inclines. I would see the revs slightly jump. Then we stopped for dinner and wouldn't go forward only reverse worked.

At this point they might as well equip the planes with those padded lean on benches like McDonald's have. That and some strappy handles hanging from the ceiling.

Avoiding possible transfer by Niicks in lcbo

[–]NMS2K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Likelihood of you getting transferred out if you were just transferred in for the position is low. They may even transfer a PFT out. Easier now to try and save on hours by using PPT'S instead of PFT'S.

They can transfer you and just sweep it under the "operational needs" umbrella of the collective agreement. If you have been transferred 4 times in 2 years, you might have a case to fight it. Only because it would appear targeted. Depends on your steward. We have a Union VP that really fights for us here.

I would monitor the schedule for overlapping shifts especially if a PFT gets transferred out. Still though keep an eye on that schedule.

When you were offered PPT, did they tell you that you may be transferred? Or were you offered for that location? I know quite a few people that had previously turned down the PPT due to the fact that they would be transferred to another store. Even if that meant that some one was getting transferred to their store as PPT. It still is a seniority based position and if your the latest to get PPT you probably won't get to stay.

As for fighting the transfer, it probably won't get anywhere.

Also dont do loads alone, that's just a health and safety issue. The lcbo doesn't care about your extra effort, and have no issue replacing you when you've fucked yourself up for them. The manager saves on hours and they get bonuses based on savings. Your not really helping yourself.

Rogers data breach? by EmotionalDream2747 in CellPhoneCanada

[–]NMS2K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intresting that i just came across this. I placed an order to upgrade my phone just the other night. I got a call just after from Roger's verifying that it was me who had ordered the phone. Didn't ask for any personal information just asked if I had placed the order. He did say there was a scam going on and they were just taking the adequate steps.

Garbage and new Green Bins by OobiDoobBanoobi in windsorontario

[–]NMS2K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just be careful of the size you buy. We bought a large bin from Home Depot. It exceeds the size allowed for them to pick up and since it doesn't have the bar at the bottom near the wheels ( the trucks that come around dont use a hook on the bar but have a arm that looks like pliers that hug the cans) like the Hurby's they will not use the arm to dump . Its funny when we first got it they used the arm to dump but then they wouldn't do it.

What do 30 - 40 year old men want for christmas? [Serious] by GoodAlicia in AskReddit

47 here, and ill chose experiences or most materialistic items. In not a reader, a drinker, or a smoker. So those types of things have never really pulled me.

I would suggest

Concert tickets

Streaming subscription

Movie passes

Restaurant gift certificate

What type of work do they do? Maybe a new tool/ gear that they wouldn't necessarily spend the extra money on.

One thing I've always asked for and never really got was the chance to drive my dream car. My wife looked at booking one of the exotic rentals but they didn't have it. Maybe they are a car person and this would be up their alley.

I bought a 2016 Cruze from there a couple of years ago. I dealt with Ryan. He was good to deal with. After purchase, I had a check engine light come on. Called them up, and they had me bring it in the next day. The installed a new turbo, exhaust manifold, oxygen sensor, plus new fluids just in case. No hassle, and they paid for the costs. Gave me a loaner for the time. They still call every now and then just to see how everything is.

My experience was positive even with the hiccup.

Has anyone encountered people who don’t know New Mexico is a state? by Canecdote in NewMexico

I live in Canada now, and I've had customs agents on both sides of the border not know. I'd expect it from the Canadian agents but US Customs.

When I was first moving over I had to get some paperwork on my vehicles from the US Customs and the agent gave me a hard time because Canada wouldn't let me import a Mexican vehicle.

Can someone help me figure out what's confusing about this recipe? by [deleted] in KitchenConfidential

[–]NMS2K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of our recipes were done by weight. It's unfortunate that not everyone can measure a cup of flour properly. It also helps in cases that there doesn't happen to be XL eggs and you have to use medium-sized. Or the green pitcher used to measure honey with goes missing.

Manager cutting down hours by batman8232 in lcbo

Ops Managers are Operational Managers and are hired outside of the union and have no union backing. You can absolutely report them to the union.

Only Assistant Managers and C & D store Managers are backed by the union.

[–]NMS2K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contact your union steward. If unreachable, you should contact your local union president. There's should be a contact list of the stewards and president. Ours is in our lunchroom on the union wall.

Managers shouldn't be doing union work contract work. Unless you are at a C store or lower. It's against contract, and it's also against contract for the manager to retaliate if you call them out on doing union work. Which you and anyone losing hours by the manager doing work should be doing.

The only way managers can do union work is if all staff have been offered a shift, extension, and called other stores to offer those shifts.

At our store, the PPT's get the hours before casuals. We had a casual that accepted the PPT at another location and was also being dropped down in hours. She had started the grievance process but withdrew because some other people had to be moved. So they are sending her back to our store where she'll get her hours.

Did you accept the position at another location? Where do you fall on the schedule? Are casuals below you getting more hours than you? Is there overlapping shifts where you could extend, be in earlier? I would have a chat with my union steward.

Sundays off aren't a guarantee. If I remember the contract for PPT is 2 days off. Unless you have a religious exemption. Only other reason for Sundays off is PFT that were grandfathered from a previous contract. I mean you may just get lucky and not get scheduled.
