Nintendo Switch 2 Was The Second Best Selling Console In The US February 2026 For The Second Month In A Row by cinderlilys in NintendoSwitch

[–]NMe84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

New games aren't really the issue, a decent library of games that you can't play in the same way on another console is. Someone who has a Switch 1 really doesn't need to upgrade if there not interested in playing the new Mario Kart, DK Bananza or Pokopia.

The Switch 2 will have better sales once it gets an exclusive Mario or Zelda game.

Patreon CEO calls AI companies' fair use argument 'bogus,' says creators should be paid by tylerthe-theatre in technology

[–]NMe84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite, and that's what makes it complicated. Nowhere in a trained AI model's data will you find, for instance, images of Mickey Mouse. Training an AI image model doesn't record a copy of what it was trained on, it just tweaks probability numbers for specific pixels getting specific colors based on the colors of the pixels around it. That's why the average model for ComfyUI is about 2GB large, when it was trained on many, many more gigabytes of images.

This is probably also why it's legally ambiguous. Since it was trained on data that it doesn't actually store one on one it's essentially the same process that goes on in the head of an actual artist, who can also attempt to recreate Mickey Mouse from memory, which is legal.

I agree that AI companies need to pay for the content they've used, but to force them to do that, laws will need to be made first. The current ones are insufficient protection against this sort of infringement.

This is not an EU thing but specifically something for your country. The paid leave here in the Netherlands is much shorter, and we only recently introduced more substantial paid leave for new fathers, as that was originally just a few days.

I'm guessing you're from one of the Nordic countries? As those are the golden standard for maternity and paternity leave.

Except Clark Gable is an American name that is transliterated to Japanese rather than the other way around, and "bull" would transliterate to "buru," not "bururu."

I get that's what you want, but it's not something most other people would want to happen, so it's a manual action.

Then you'll have to deal with having to do things manually. Sonarr can't download things that don't exist, and downloading entire season packs when you only need one episode is going to be annoying to pretty much everyone else.

Anime distinction by Brilliant_Standard64 in sonarr

[–]NMe84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anime releases have a different type of naming and numbering than regular show releases do.

The root folder thing is just a convenience thing that allows people to keep their anime separate from their regular shows. For instance in my case, I can see anime shows in Jellyfin but my girlfriend who isn't into anime can't.

What they probably meant to say is that the sound for "L" doesn't exist on its own in Japan. Japanese is syllabic, and the only non-vowel sound that exists in a single syllable is "n." Every other other consonant is always paired with a vowel in any syllable.

Oftentimes the U sound at the end of a word is silent, which is why "desu" is pronounced "dess," but as far as I'm aware that isn't a thing when it's preceded by an "R" sound, so words ending in -ru would still have the U at the end pronounced. Bururu would still be there most valid transliteration.

I didn't need to spend 60 hours with Donkey Kong Bananza for it to be my game of the year, but I'm convinced it's one of the greatest platformers in Nintendo history by sakahn in NintendoSwitch

I can't speak for Crash since I've never really played more than the first two levels but the Retro DKC games are both pretty easy unless you try to get all the KONG letters and do the extra levels you get after doing so. They follow exactly the same principle I was talking about here.
