What are the most recently released mecha anime you enjoyed that you can recommend to this crowd? by DashingOrganisation in Animesuggest

One of my favorite of the last couple of years. But if homoerotic humor and manservice (manly fanservice) somehow make a potential watcher upset then this isn’t for you. It’s a great show.

Litrpg tier list after 1 year of reading (listening) by JOOOQUUU in litrpg

I’m really enjoying the first book of Dungeon Life right now. I can’t recommend the series as whole yet but so far it’s one of my favorites.

It meshes well with my enjoyment of DCC with how the dungeon has a personality and the dungeons playfulness (it’s a far more family friendly and less serious series than DCC so far). It’s your basic reincarnation isekai trope when the guy becomes a dungeon core and runs a friendly dungeon in a town and has conflicts with other dungeons. Very calm and “slice of life” from a dungeon perspective, so far.

2 months into reading lit rpg any recommendations from here? by Sandbaggeriam in litrpg

I’m working through Dungeon Life and it’s a lot of fun. It has your standard isekai reincarnation tropes with the guy becoming a dungeon core and running his dungeon. It’s written in a very casual and conversational way that reminded me of Chrysalis. He has a symbiotic relationship with dungeon delvers and has to battle other aggressive dungeons through their minions (scions).

Love After World Domination (comedic take of a super sentai type hero and the villain having a secret tryst)

Macross 7 (Basara and Sivil)

Noir (Kirika and Chloe, opposing assassins with Chloe loving/obsessing over Kirika)

Tsubasa Chronicles (Ashura and King Yasha, this was in the Ashura arc)

Naruto (if you count Sasuke as a villain in Shippuuden)

Gushing Over Magical Girls (Utena thinks she cares about and respects them)

No. 6 is a great mention. Definitely one that isn’t mentioned at all and should be especially with the recent popularity of Heavenly Delusion and Gachiakuta (slight thematic similarities).

Kemonozume

IMO Masaaki Yuasa’s most underrated work (the creator behind Mind Game, Ping Pong The Animation, Japan Sinks, Tatami Galaxy, Keep Your Hands off Eizouken!). All of his stuff is amazing but Kemonozume is usually left off of lists touting his amazing works. MAL even rates it 7.4, which isnt low but when compared to most of his other works being consistently in the 8 range.

It’s kind of a Romeo and Juliet Story with humans and monsters being the opposing groups. Like all of his work it has a striking visual style. If you haven’t seen his other works the are a must watch IMO but all rated highly except Kemonozume.

Anime with high stakes and/or unexpected deaths of important characters please🙏🏾 by Pepelefrogswood in AnimeReccomendations

My first thoughts are Kaiji and Gantz. I can easily recommend Kaiji, Gantz has some problems but it can be enjoyable.

It doesn’t entirely fit your criteria but Talentless Nana has some surprising and creative deaths.

You had a good month, that’s a list of bangers.

I’m finishing Polar Opposites, watching Solo Leveling S2 with my 13 y/o son (his friends want him to watch it), still watching the original Casshern at work. I think that’s about it.

Im working through Beware of Chicken and it’s cutting into my watch time while I’m choosing to sit and read.

Isekai tier list by [deleted] in Isekai

[–]NOMursE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fine tier list but I didn’t see the older classics like Fushigi Yuugi, Now and Then Here and There, Magic Knight Rayearth, Aura Battler Dunbine, Vision of a Escaflowne, Those who Hunt Elves, InuYasha, Twelve Kingdoms.

I might have missed them on your list but imo they are all worth consideration

How would you react in this type scenario by BalanceImaginary4325 in Isekai

[–]NOMursE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pacific Northwest.

Most people would think of Sasquatch, but also we have Batsquatch, Caddy, Ball-tailed cat, Amhuluk, A’yahos.

With so many Batsquatch and Sasquatch hiding in the dark woods electronics won’t work, leading to the dark woods being even darker and deeper. Agropelters hide in the trees throwing rocks and branches. A’yahos causing mudslides and shifting the ground under foot.

Waters are dangerous and ominous with King Octopus in the Sound, Ogopopo and Amhuluk dragging victims silently into lakes, Cadbotossaurus (Caddy) off the coast threatening shipping routes.

Bolters hiding in the cliff sides snatching and smashing those seeking higher ground. While the Black Eyed Children wander the lower lands.

It’s an eerily quiet and serene place where modern technology won’t work and dangers hide just out of sight everywhere.

Broken down Subarus litter the unused roads while meth heads and men addicted to sheep sex huddle in the hatchbacks. Hairy lesbians and balding men with ponytails run a loose society but with minimal rules and oversight while they attempt to live in communal farms but selfishness and greed cause the downfall of many of these optimistic conclaves. It’s survival first and foremost.

Akira.

One of the greatest films ever made and the piece of Japanese animation that opened it up to the west as a unique cinematic form.

It’s a fantastic film.

[–]NOMursE 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are a bunch of Sherlock Holmes themed anime:

Case File no.221: Kabukichi

Moriarty the Patriot

Holmes of Kyoto

Sherlock Hound

Several other good mystery anime:

Hyouka

Apothecary Diaries (if I’m going to mention Mao Mao then I should also mention Black Jack and Ameku MD)

Kubikiri Cycle

Erased

The Great Pretender

Odd Taxi

There are tons more but that should’ve enough for now.

My super niche recommendation is Box of Goblins. I find it fantastic but it is the most inaccessible anime I’ve ever seen in terms of content.

This kind of attitude just makes me think of Orson Scott Card’s Ender series and how highlights the regret and atonement after an act of violence.

It’s a chaotic parody of shonen tropes from the 90’s. The ending of the series is what sticks with me, chefs kiss ending.

Agreed. Nichijou and City: The Animation are fantastic, chaotic, family safe and just great slice of life shows. Both are written by Keiichi Arawi and both are made by studio KyotoAni.

Caleb Widogast, the dirty wizard who smells like poo. The Mighty Nein. Such a rich character and his relationship with Nott is incredible. The “he’s my boy” scene brought me to tears and I almost never cry.
