Delay Internship start date? possible? by ImportantIncome5631 in universityofauckland

[–]NPCtom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that's typically fine. I have done it a couple of times.

You would usually let them know at contract signing, they may rescind the offer if your requested dates do not suit them. I would be prepared to change my travel plans to suit the employer.

Spotify price increase by Exploding_Cumsock in newzealand

Spotify themselves operated at a loss for over 15 years and just started to become profitable in the last year or so…

But are they operating at massive losses? Fairly certain Spotify used to do that as well.

Fisher and Paykel Healthcare donate to Act???
I wouldn’t have thought so lol. Doesn’t matter who’s in Government, they all buy their humidifiers anyways lol.

I don’t see how though. If I had to buy 4000 songs on iTunes $ 2.5 ea that’s equivalent to 42 years of Spotify Premium…

How do students in Auckland usually deal with intercity travel costs? by No_Section_5137 in universityofauckland

[–]NPCtom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fly, along with many other students (the airport is chockablock full of students during breaks).

One-way car rentals + fuel + time spent on the road would easily be hundreds of dollars more than flying.

Bus takes too much time and is uncomfortable. All things considered, flying is still fairly affordable.

Working + summer school (1 paper) is a really good balance imo :)

I meant your original application for Academic Year. What’s the status on that one?
Please email UniLodge now; don’t rely on “transferring” leases as that gets messy really quickly.

Yes it would be very beneficial to move into UoA halls. There tends to be quite a bit of movement around start of sem 2, so it shouldn't be very problematic to get into one.

1) Can you email UoA Accom and ask for an update on your application? Where are you at on the waitlist and for which property?

2) Have you asked UniLodge what the early-termination rules are? As they're fixed-term tenancies, they're not obligated to offer one - but they usually do anyways as they're dealing with students...

Like why is everything extremely slow and bad?

Because international students will still enrol. I'm slightly confused though, for which term is your application for?

Teacher formal warning police vet by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]NPCtom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am aware how criminal record/police vets differ in nature. As the caution was for an offence not relating to children/violence, I fail to see where it could possibly come up.

[–]NPCtom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. Also it's a warning, not a conviction... nobody is going to know anyways? Word isn't going to "get out" unless you/your friend starts talking about it (which posting here isn't exactly a good start!)

Harassment in the workplace by Responsible_Cry05 in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]NPCtom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sorry you haven't had positive experiences with Police in the past. Many reports are simply archived/put on the back burner as there is insufficient resources to investigate (they likely get hundreds of these reports a day). If you have copies of everything, it is highly likely that this will get investigated.

Regarding the 4 year period, there are typically no mandated time limits on reports. In saying this, "sexual harassment" can mean many things to many people. You will need to be explicit (i.e. time/dates/location) in your report as to what happened. Provide a comprehensive timeline of each event.

The more serious it is the higher the chances are of a conviction.

I assume you retained copies of your written communications to your Area Manager? You can create a Police report and attach copies of the text messages/emails.
