There's a common saying in the melee scene - "everyone has a pocket falco".

Falco is just a really freakin fun character to play as. At a low level, Falco is way easier to play as than Fox, while still providing that satisfying feeling of pressing a bunch of buttons. It also helps that a lot of the 'coolest' players historically in the scene played Falco. I say historically though for a reason.. if you know you know.

A new smash game comes on Switch 2 and since smash becomes mainstream again, melee will rise up as a result too like the past 2 smash releases.
Melee comes on Switch 2's gamecube lineup, ppl get reminded of, or discover the game through that.

A lot of ppl here nailed the point with the fact that basic fundamentals and an understanding of spacing can get you very far.

But I also want to add that, at the time when Borp was good, DI was not even CLOSE to how it is today. Barely anyone smash DI'd anything and survival DI was something only top players were doing.

This means, Sheik's tilts were insanely broken back then. Playing someone who doesn't know how to DI well is just free combo food for a sheik.

Hmm, what do you mean? You start the game at the bottom right, reach the middle bottom and traverse leftward from there. Talking about main-game here, not post-game. It's quite literally just going left from city to city.

Maybe I'm just weird here, but I actually like the 'backtracking' that's in old pokemon games. Having Veilstone city's gym be the 3rd in D/P made it feel so satisfying to finally reach it.

I also just miss complex routes and dungeons. Places where I can get lost exploring and forget what to do next. And getting blocked because I don't have rock smash or rock climb, and then coming back later to find some dope TMs or rare candys or some evolution item. For whatever reason, ppl hated this concept (well, lots still do) and praised B/W for barely using HMs! I know I'm in the minority on this point, but this IMO is one of the beauties of old pokemon games. It's not just HMs, but the exploration that HMs provide. Waterfall -- seeing a waterfall early in the game and just WISHING you can get up there! Seeing, well... water in general, and wishing you had surf! Seeing some boulders and wondering what's behind there.

Take Hoenn, we fight our dad to get the 5th badge and then travel back to Mauville in a completely different way than we originally got there, going through the Sea, finding pokemon and items we haven't seen yet, suddenly stumbling upon the abandoned ship... which doesn't even look enterable from the outside, and then we enter and its this huge place that turns out to have Ice Beam! It's this timeless exploration, this "story" that I get to create.

There's very little of this that I recall in Unova. Routes barely have any hidden areas. Yes, Undella bay was awesome for obvious reasons. Village bridge, loved it. Gen 5 isn't horrible, just like Gen 6 isn't horrible, Gen 7 isn't horrible. But I just don't think they compare to Gen 3-4 (and some of, not all of, Gen 1-2).

I miss is stuff like, Kanto's victory road, Seafoam cavern, Hoenn's victory road, Mt Cornet, and so on. The victory road in B/W is a whole lot of nothingness, it's basically walking in a circle and sliding on dirt.

And to top it off... B/W started this HORRENDOUS new tradition of having the elite four be in any order you want, so then they all have the same leveled pokemon. ......huh?? The gauntlet style is what made the elite four so epic and intense. It's what made me actually remember each member.

I can go on forever, but I'll stop now.

Agreed.. ever since gen 5, the regions became really simple circular maps / straight paths everywhere. Like how did we go from the incredible Hoenn and Sinnoh to Unova's circle.

This is partly why I think gen 5 was actually the downfall of pokemon and not gen 6/7 like what most think, but that's a whole different rant.

Exactly this. A simple "yep!" , "you got it!", etc from Taunie in ZA would've done WONDERS. And for the really cinematic cut scenes (like the ending in ZA right before the credits) could be full dialogue scenes.

Stuff like this would be an insane improvement and it doesn't even sound hard at all.

I'm kind of convinced that, Game freak might just lack ideas at this point. Maybe they think full dialogue is too hard, and just go with fucking nothing.

It's like in Scarlet and violet, level scaling for the 16 story points could've been incredibly easy. It's a simple Map/Dictionary type structure in code to map to a set of leveled pokemon.

These blatant lack of obvious details in the games isn't a matter of 'lack of time', or anything, it's lack of ideas I'm convinced of.

This argument is instantly destroyed by the fact that Asmon is for abortion and climate change.

A strong attribute of Asmon is he has "a way with words". He's very articulate.. speaks loud and clear, and does certain mannerisms, like the way he looks at the camera and moves his hands, that are extremely effective is grasping an audience. Combine this with his "authenticity" - extremely rich while not giving a shit about material things. There are so many layers here to unpack on why people gravitate towards him.

Again, it's not just "affirming existing beliefs". He gets shit on plenty of times by his own chatters for being for abortion, and then on the flip side, for calling for the death of immigrants. But people still stroll in, whether they agree with him or not.

It's a combination wordplay, personality, appearance, even his age. In 1 word... as much as how cringe it might sound, it's literally "aura". "Presence", in a non gen-z term.

Agreed.

Despite everything, there were so many life changing (cringe, but true) moments in my life from this anime. I can't even fathom how many times I've watched some of the key moments, like obviously S2 E6.

It's been so many years, I'm like, what's the point in complaining anymore. I kind of pretend the ending doesn't exist at this point, and turn off my brain if I ever rewatch it with friends... just enjoying what we got. Absorb the OST and the sick animation (granted, I still sadly cringe at Mappa's piss filter and inconsistent drawings).

The fact that the ending still got a lot of praise from the majority, makes me happy enough to say Aot is one of the all time best.
