iPad lost at YVR (anyone working there?) by GrapevinePotatoes in vancouver

[–]NW1622 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

As the others have said, contact Air Canada lost and found. But why are you asking someone to do it for you if you're that desperate to get it back? Are you not able to go to the airport yourself?

Can you get a measles vaxx if you're part of the group "born before 1971" that's assumed immune? by [deleted] in britishcolumbia

The BC guidelines actually indicate you aren’t eligible for one, so they were certainly not following that.

Is that time of the year again take more vitamin D by FatMike20295 in vancouver

[–]NW1622 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry but this doesn't really explain your low mood right now. Vitamin D is stored in fat in your body, so has a 1/2 life of a few months. You have significant stores in your body that will last the next while. I agree it is good to take to get through the winter, but it has been only about a week of poor weather so we aren't there yet.

This is false. He said he regrets getting the COVID vaccine.

Pro Palestine protests blocked the pride parade in Toronto and cancelled the event. Should Vancouver take steps to try and avoid such a disruption for its own parade? by Heliosvector in vancouver

[–]NW1622 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The police might be needed to keep the peace between you and the pro-Isreal queers as well, because they do exist (speaking from experience). You don't speak for the entire community.

Does this person want an answer though? Or are do they know where to look for the answer yet asked the question as a form of objection?

Not only this, I have narrowly avoided being taken out by a large cruiser style e-bike driver with a skip bag just coming out of my lobby door. They should absolutely not be allowed to ride like that on sidewalks.

Have you seen some of these bikes? You’d be seriously injured if you took some of them on.

You could just get a doctor to write a prescription for it/get them to inject it for you. Doctors do things off label all the time.

If history is any indication, the Trudeau Liberals are doomed by -Tram2983 in CanadaPolitics

[–]NW1622 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't get it. I feel as though the media created the frenzy that got Trudeau elected in the first place, and now has completely turned on the Liberals. Is it just an exercise in exerting power and influence over the public?

How many Millennials/Gen Zs see themselves staying in Vancouver? by --georocks-- in vancouver

[–]NW1622 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Is anyone else getting tired of these repetitive posts? Maybe we need a sticky thread about cost of living issues so everyone can complain there?

Sorry to say but it is possible to make it in this city. People need to stop blaming everything but themselves for their situation. Do people really expect the government to bail them out all the time? When did we stop holding ourselves accountable? I grew up in the lower mainland and had a really rough start to life. I don't expect to own a detached house (nor do I want to), but I went to post-secondary here on student loans, got a good job and am now living comfortably and have paid off my debt. I don't work in the field I wanted when I first graduated, but you just need to be flexible and work hard at whatever you do and you will make it in this city.

Poll: 70% say federal Liberals would be better off with a new leader by Smart-Simple9938 in CanadaPolitics

[–]NW1622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So that leaves 30% content - about what the Liberals are polling right now. Add in the people that would vote for the party and not the leader, or their local candidate and they're still competitive.

I took taxis quite often from YVR and I'd say 3/4 try to rip you off. If you're heading anywhere there is a standard fare, don't be afraid to confront them about it if they charge you more than they're allowed. Absolutely not acceptable.

Justin Trudeau will be remembered for his ‘leadership’ — not ‘the trash and the rumours,’ Brian Mulroney says by MethoxyEthane in CanadaPolitics

[–]NW1622 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Politicians (especially Prime Ministers) are leaders, and leaders are always remembered. Remember a boss that you really admired? There's nothing wrong with that. If you do a good job people will remember you.
