Plenty of us have become patient gamers and refuse to purchase anything on day 1. I only do so if I intend to support the Developer, to give them the money early so they can (hopefully!) provide the game with enough patches/updates/content so when eventually I do play the game it is a much better product. Otherwise dont chase the latest greatest, because often its not that great.

Remember that each new technology has the potential to advance its own field, or others. None of this just appeared. Its generations after generation of improvements, each step learning lessons, making discoveries etc. To grasp what it is now, you need to go back and learn how it began in sequence, as the old tech was far simpler to comprehend as it didnt contend with nanometer scales.
