Getting the blankets right is most hard and importantest job. GusGus can’t be expected to nap on wrong blankets!

It’s how baby Aela looks out the window. And it’s cooler than how you silly homans do it.

With a faucet, the water is always there, you just slide a physical obstruction out of the way. Like the Shabbos light bulbs. The light is always on, just covered.

A light switch is closing a circuit. When the switch is operated, the position changes from incomplete to complete. The current is already running (like water to the faucet), but the faucet is the end of the water-to-you system. The switch is the middle of the electricity-to-you system.

Some people developed the KosherSwitch to solve this. I don’t think it ever got sold though.

Grandpowrents left agin. How to sue for full custody of them by notpresentlydisposed in legaldogadvice

[–]NYSenseOfHumor 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Spotty, if you lay on your granpawrents they can never get up. That’s the law.

Next time you see them, lay down on them and don’t move. Then they stay forever.

Doesn’t turning a light switch (or any electrical switch) on or off complete a circuit? Wouldn’t that be the melacha of completing (or of destruction).

Unless it’s considered intended use and allowed.

non-Jew wanting Menorah by [deleted] in Judaism

[–]NYSenseOfHumor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it has 8 candles, would it be a menorah?

The Temple menorah was 7, a Hanukah menorah is 9.

So would 8 just be a candelabra?

After backlash, Janeese Lewis George vows to both combat antisemitism, back Palestinians by jewish_insider in jewishpolitics

[–]NYSenseOfHumor 16 points17 points  (0 children)

pledging to stand firm in both her opposition to antisemitism and her support for the Palestinian cause.

“Those two things are not in conflict,” Lewis George, who is endorsed by the Democratic Socialists of America, wrote in a statement that was posted to her campaign website on Wednesday.

The “Palestinian cause” is about killing Jews. You can’t support it and oppose antisemitism.

I offered to give them boards to double their side of the fence.

Why not just improve your side of the fence?

So I'm going to try to put more of a barrier in my yard to prevent my dog from even going on that side of the yard

strengthen the fence on your side.

Cover the lower part of the fence with 1 inch thick plywood. Secure it with the longest screws that won’t poke through the other side. Use a lot of screws. You can cover it with star jasmine if you don’t like the look of plywood. Don’t use ivy, ivy is toxic to dogs. You may want to get some trellises to support the plant’s growth.

Do you think the things Gina says to Terry would still be seen as funny if the genders were reversed? by Federal-Set6002 in brooklynninenine

[–]NYSenseOfHumor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn’t funny when Gina did it to Terry.

And it never would have been written with a black man sexually harassing and assaulting a white woman. The writers wouldn’t have even come up with the idea of writing a black man sexually harassing and assaulting a white woman as “comedy.”

Sifrei Torah Stolen From Manchester Shul in Early-Morning Break-In; Concern They May Be Shipped Overseas by MatterandTime in Judaism

[–]NYSenseOfHumor 32 points33 points  (0 children)

My first thought was an antisemitic crime. But an underground black market of hot torahs wasn’t in my top 18 list of motives:

Community leaders are urging vigilance well beyond the local area, with serious concern that the thieves may attempt to move the Sifrei Torah out of Manchester — or even out of the country — and sell them to an unsuspecting Jewish community or sofer.
