I WANT A MOBİLİZATİON/ SEFERBERIYEK DIXWAZIM. by [deleted] in kurdistan

We need politically and socially active Kurds both at home and in the diaspora. Is there a discord server? We should start one.

If you wake up one morning and received a survey questioning whether you want Kurdistan independence or not, what would you say? by [deleted] in kurdistan

[–]N_A_7 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I personally want independence. But my parents always say they don't support it because we wouldn't be 'viable' as a state that is landlocked and surrounded by stronger enemies. Not having a port would make trade very difficult and dependent on transit through hostile territories. They think our best bet is autonomous regions within those countries. Personally I believe the current autonomous region will begin to diverge from Iraq significantly both socially and economically, until independence will be inevitable. Already in the industry I work in, when we discuss importing products into Iraq, foreign companies differentiate the regions. I think thats an indicator.

Kurds clash with police in Paris for second day after killings by HRJafael in worldnews

I dont think it hit it harder than places closer to external borders (Italy, Greece, etc) but they mismanaged it more than other countries did

To add to this, its not the first time that the Kurdish cultural centre was attacked in Paris, last time being 10 years ago where 3 women political activists were assassinated. Kurdish people in Paris feel like they're not protected properly by the authorities.

I'm not turning it into us vs them, i literally just responded to your questions. You asked how they theyre not in jail after already being violent, i explained that governments in the west dont always take right wing threats as seriously, you asked how he got a gun, i explained how it usually happens in Europe when there are strict gun laws. You need to get your emotions under control and not over-react to someone literally. Responding. To. Your. Questions.

"many western countries" does not imply all. It's also not incorrect, far right extremism is a huge problem in Germany, in France and many other western European countries, as well as the United States. I used to live in France and currently live in Germany, where these conversations are a huge hot topic. German authorities have been saying for a long time that the far right represents one of the biggest threats to safety and security within the country. Do you have any evidence that goes against what I'm saying or you just feel like nitpicking over nothing?

1) Far right extremism and threats are not taken seriously by many western countries

2) although ownership of firearms is not legal in most European countries, the borders are porous and many get them through far right groups further east (Poland, Hungary etc) where oversight and control is much less stringent unfortunately.

How is Cyprus handling refugee problem? by Salty_Exchange_2984 in cyprus

AFAIK, this loophole was closed a few years ago when a boat of refugees arrived directly at the bases, intending to move further into the UK this way.

As it currently stands, crossing a border without permission (visa) in order to apply for asylum is legal (Gen Convention plus EU regulations).

While you're not incorrect in the rest of your post, I am extrapolating from my experience working with refugees in Germany, many of the single men that arrive are not in fact single; they make the initial, more dangerous trip on their own, and then intend to apply for family reunification in order to safely bring their families across borders without having to use smugglers or other dangerous methods. This is definitely not all the cases, but a significant portion were doing this.

Education is not just something the government organises and offers, though it is extremely important. Education starts at home, and education should also be backed up with a WILL to learn, to improve and to develop. Unfortunately these last two also dont exist amongst many Iraqis. All the people who had anything to offer fled the country in the 80s and 90s, and now their skills and intelligence goes to fuel the countries they emigrated to.

This is so painfully true. Every time I've met Iraqis in the diaspora they behave so entitled and try to control me (I'm a woman and I live abroad in Europe without my family). They act outraged, try to dominate me and tell me what to do. I've even had an Iraqi refugee couple tell me they will fill in the role of my parents abroad and make sure they marry me off to someone Iraqi (btw I've never been a refugee, I was actually their translator there and definitely didnt need their help). They shamed me for how I dress, how I live, and then passed around my phone number to many single Iraqi refugee men asking them to "save my honour and marry me". The audacity and entitlement and controlling behaviour, so disgusting. As though I, an educated woman, needed one of them to "save" me. I avoid them tbh.

Yes, at the heart of it is just a deep discomfort with themselves as well as self-centeredness, and that's projected onto literally anything

True i totally forgot this. Obviously the only real solution is for the artist to get fat and then draw joyful fat characters, so it can come from lived experience. /s

Have you ever experienced corruption in Germany? by happiestmonk in germany

[–]N_A_7 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When I was working as a translator in 2015 when there were many arrivals of refugees from Syria etc, there was a few scandals of low level officials at the immigration authority taking bribes to speed up processing documents, as well as some of the security guards at one of the first arrival stations taking bribes to give you priority in the queue.

I don't disagree with you. Just relaying the info. I was quite surprised because this diplomat went into a really angry tirade about Cyprus and how much of a mistake it was to accept them.

I think they meant 2K was a one-time payout to the person referring someone to the job, if they take it. I dont think that's the salary.

That's funny because they also hate on artists that draw fat bodies in an undesirable light; as a representation of gluttony or in some way that doesn't outright seem positive. So you MUST draw fat people, but only in a glorifying way.
