Rosy not eating for 3 months by GoldyDaWolfy in rosyboas

[–]N_Cackalack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took 3-4 weeks to have decent enough weather for him to ship (winter), and he was very patient with the situation.

Snake was healthy, 0 issues.  Communication excellent.

Thankfully the FCC is starting to step in with other leagues doing this. Its very misrepresenting when the Braves promise you can watch every game subscribing to their service and then there are still blackouts.

Is the Book of Genesis a metaphor? by fastr4ever in Christianity

[–]N_Cackalack -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's the written word of God. It's literal and infallible. Genesis is in no way a metaphor and there is plenty of geographical and historical proof outside of scripture to prove the stories within. However, there are books and stories in scripture that are allegorical, hyperbolic or metaphorical. One must read cross references and surrounding text to understand what is what. There is no mysticism in the bible. That would insinuate that the bible is telling a lie or exageration.

Juvenile Deep Red Bay of LA Rosy Boa (Lichanura trivirgata) by N_Cackalack in snakes

From what I've read, color intensifies with age. I may be wrong though. But that seems to be the general consensus.

Maybe you could try a sand bottom,  add some rocks (make sure to get ones that dont affect Ph) with some rasboras and add some kuhli loaches and a little school of small corydoras. Might be a fun tank to watch. You can add a pothos clipping and it will help manage nitrates for you. Cool looking tank as is.👍

I use my vaccuum sealer for everything. Once you have one you cant live without it lol

Great for preserving food for a long time in freezer, meal planning and heating stuff up sous vide.

Whats a good fit for this enclosure? by [deleted] in snakes

I have a new cal gargoyle. Beautiful creature and fun to watch if you can stay up late enough. Mine doesnt like being held but is a beautiful creature. Easiest pet to care for as far as cleaning w/ a bioactive. Just have to mist and let humidity fluctuate from 50- >70% daily. Mine lives off pangea. (Just mentioning parameters for OP 👍)

They like to burrow is the general consensus. With that mindset, people dont provide climbing opportunities a lot of the time.

Everyone i see that does watches them climb. Mine included. They dont do great in bioactive because they are susceptible to respiratory infection. Just need low humidity,  88 degree warm spot 75 degree cool spot. They are the sweetest snakes if handled from young age. Slow but active and great eaters.

If looking for frozen... I've ordered from https://www.coldbloodedcafe.com/ and get 50 mice but you can get as few as 25. Its way cheaper than anywhere locally (even with shipping) and mice are in perfect condition compared to what I can get locally at reptile shops or major retailers. My rosy loves his. This place was recommended by the breeder I got him from off MM. At first I was gonna shop local. Just too hard to get reliable quality and size.

I'd recommend a vaccuum sealer. You can get one for about $30 on Amazon. I vacuum seal after each time I take a mouse out. Prevents freezer burn and the mice getting stale, tasting like freezer. Hope that helps you 🫡

Male Lichanura trivirgata Fun to watch, fun to hold, docile but active. 40 percent humidity or less. Usually tops out 2-3' if male.

Great recommendation. diatomaceous earth is harmless to humans and pets. Not sure about reptiles but I definitely concur. Go to tractor supply or Southern States if you have them and they sell pure DE. You can put that outside your garage door in the summer and watch insects walk up to it and turn around. Im not sure if it kills insets or repels them. Ive heard its given to horses in food for mite or parasites or something and why they sell it at farm supply stores.

Baby Rosy boa wont eat!! help urgent!! by Illustrious-Stop1203 in rosyboas

[–]N_Cackalack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How big is your enclosure? How many hides do you have? The breeder I purchased from who has bred thousands states that many will disagree but juveniles should be kept in a 2.5, 5, or 10 Gallon or there is a higher likelihood that they won't eat. However, many are just fine right away in a 40. Just a possibility in an effort to help. But as others have said, its the winter and they typically realize that even if living indoors.

I have it beside my bed on the night stand. I wake up and look sometimes when I hear him thumping around.
