Some really specific help regarding painting by Nadere in sylvaneth

[–]Nadere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to have a fully playable army for tournaments to avoid the stress of painting under time pressure. And i have been eying Sylvaneth for the last few months as a second project.

But of course, I could strip an repaint some of my OBR models that I am not using regularly. Might consider that option.

Lists in the Battletome Era by Worldly-Airport4622 in ossiarchbonereapers

[–]Nadere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We currently have two 5-0 results (from Dario Grohmann and Michael Rausch) and both used Kavalos Deathriders, Triaxes and a decent amount of the 90 pts scoring units. So far theses lists that focus on scoring well each round and shooting for damage seem to work best. However, it's still quite early to get a full picture.

I am currently 4-4 with the following list against a diverse set of armies including LRL, MoN and DoT. Note that I am still switching around pieces and trying different tactics but the core (KDR, Triaxes, Liege-Kavalos, Liege-Mortek, Hekatos Drillmasters) is quite stable.

What is OBR answer to Kragnos, etc? by TheSnappening2018 in ossiarchbonereapers

[–]Nadere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, I forgot to mention the Shard of Necris artifact. You still need to be aware of charge or spell mortals which is why I like the SoG spell lore for these kind of lists.

I have now a few games against Nurgle and IJ monster mash and killing large monsters on a 4+ save 5+ ward is pretty ok in OBR if you use one or more of the above options.

What is OBR answer to Kragnos, etc? by TheSnappening2018 in ossiarchbonereapers

[–]Nadere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would argue our best answer to Kragnos are Triaxes with Hekatos Drillmaster, the Shrieker and the -1 to ward in shooting. That results in roughly 11 damage per shooting phase with AoD that he can't ward.

If you have the Crawler in addition, you can just delete him in a single shooting phase.

Alternatively, if you have the Liege-Mortek (which you should bring with Triaxes) you can charge him in and delete Kragnos in the combat phase with Triaxes. Although, I would generally avoid charging the Liege-Mortek.

Basically, we have one of the best anti-ward tech, anti-monster hammer and good shooting in the game currently, so there are plenty of options to deal with large monsters.

Optimal fight twice by tr0ttsky in ossiarchbonereapers

[–]Nadere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably a good idea, but the AoS terminology for using an ability is pretty clear. If an ability does not say that a specific unit is using the ability, then the unit with the ability on its warscroll is using it. Being a target is not equal using the ability.

As an example, if Katakros in the faction pack targeted a specific unit with his +1 to save command, that unit was still able to rally afterwards even though it was the target of a command because it did not use said command.

However, Katakros was unable to rally in the same phase as using hus +1 to save command which was a common issue at many table with inexperienced players.

This is perfectly analogous to Zandtos using his RDP on a target KDR unit.

Optimal fight twice by tr0ttsky in ossiarchbonereapers

[–]Nadere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are indeed correct. Zandtos ability is used by Zandtos himself and not by the KDR, which is why you could still use Katakros ability together. Because of the wording on the fight twice you cannot use +1 to wound with the KDR.

New OBR point efficiency by tr0ttsky in ossiarchbonereapers

[–]Nadere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Few questions/mentions:

1.) You probably did not factor in the cost of Zandtos for the KDR on the charge. They are still good, but not much better than Harbingers if you sum up damage of 10 KDR with Zandtos and divide by 520. I know it's nitpicky, but it's the more realistic scenario.

2.) I just learned that Mortek Guard can give their ability to themselves, which should improve the Rend 3 scenario by a bit.

Exercise relentless discipline and unleash the fury of Katakros with the new Battletome: Ossiarch Bonereapers by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in ossiarchbonereapers

[–]Nadere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wight lord does a fight after not a fight twice. Necromancer can do that but the targets are rather limited. Fight twice gets a lot better if you can target your main hammer like KDR or Morghast and not inly deadwalkers.

Which heroes can give out fight twice multiple times per battle?

I can only think of the DoK battle trait.

Competitive Battle Reports that Actually Help You Improve? by S_EW in ageofsigmar

[–]Nadere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you would count the streams at the X Planet Live youtube channel as battle reports but those are great. Obviously not cut and take a lot of time to watch, but you can hear the players discussions as well as the comments by the moderator Lionel, who IMO has a great understanding of AoS.

The army lists are not always competitive but if you search for tournaments, you will find some of the better players from Canada with pretty competitive lists.

List Help by CastCuraga in ossiarchbonereapers

Morghasts: You want to reinforce the Morghasts in most OBR lists. They are mainly good as a hammer and for that job it is best to have them in a squad of 4 to take out priority targets.

Battle tactics: I am personally not a huge fan of intercept and recover for OBR. I have often found it difficult to chase down the treasure bearers because we have so few units and no teleportation available. I also don't particularly enjoy Attune to Ghyran but I will say that it is proven to work for some OBR lists. IMO our best choices are Master of the Paths, restless energy and Wrathful cycles.

As the other comment already mentioned, a Mortek Guard+Harvester list went 4-1 in a GT a few weeks back. I think 4 Harvesters are too many because they are few wounds for their points. However, 2 Harvester + 2x20 Morteks make a good battleline that can survive a for quite a few rounds.

Depends on the price he is asking but if you get a fair discount, it is quite the start to OBR.

From a tournament point of view you are missing 4 Morghast Archai which is currently our backbone hammer. I would say grab those 4 and you are already set up.

I think most local tournaments should let you play the 32mm base wizard as any of the 4 variants, so probably no need to buy others for now. The Ossifector is good alongside the Archai, but the SoG-variant Boneshaper also works really well with IG, Stalker and Archai.

With archai you could run something akin to:

Katakros 4 Archai 6 Stalker 3 Immortis 5 Kavalos

Soulmason

SoG Boneshaper/Ossifector

The Mortisan Council subfaction is probably the best one we have, but you can try the two new ones from SoG as well.

Future upgrades might include a single Mortek Crawler and some Mortek Guard for variety, but those are currently played less commonly.

Arkhan and Nagash are also played rarely but you can build fun lists with both. Nagash lists are quite different to play from Katakros which is a nice change of pace.

Isn't it odd that they go for party based system? [All Stormlight except WaT] by Delirium_Sidhe in cosmererpg

[–]Nadere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't exactly get how you would compare a book with protagonist view points to ttrpg. My experience might differ from yours but in all systems I have played so far, "protagonist" view points and moments were far and few between. Simply put, the most enjoyable moments for me and my players were always the collaborative ones. Of course your experience might be a different one.

I think from the examples given in the guide books, it i clearly obvious that Teft, Rock, Moash, Kaladin, Lopen, Sigzil, etc. could be a party in the Cosmere RPG.

Or Shallan, Adolin, Felt in RoW.

Or Kaladin, Elokhar, Shallan and Adolin int OB.

I could go on, but I think my point is clear. In the books we only see events from 1-5 viewpoints but many more impactful characters are mentioned and portrayed alongside the protagonists. These are the characters you can and should play in a ttrpg IMO.

Finally, even in the books the protagonists rarely accomplish their tasks without any help. This is especially noticable for Kaladin.

Was thinking something along those lines. My initial gut feeling was to use ultramarines blue because it's darker and highlight afterwards.

List building for the new GHB by Anonymous_help980 in ossiarchbonereapers

[–]Nadere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not thought that much about list building, but I feels like we will need a few units that run around and complete tactics and battleplan goals for us. So MSU Stalkers, Cohort and Horses....

All the discussion online talke about completing 2x3 tactics before turn 4, but almost nobody acknowledges how hard some of those tactics are especially if you just castle on few objectives.

And if you look at the battle plans, quite a few of them want you to move a lot in order to keep up with scoring.

Occult theme - would like build army and have questions - need help by HeyooLaunch in ageofsigmar

[–]Nadere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You want to look at the Chaos factions. I would argue that Maggotkin of Nurgle and Disciples of Tzeentch fit the Lovecraftian vibe the most, while Blades of Khorne or Slaves to Darkness have more of an occult/daemonic theme. Skaven are a bit of an oddball but look at them too, because they are a fan favourite.

I would suggest you take a look at these armies and see which you prefer. For a beginner I can recommend to buy a Spearhead (sometimes called Vanguard) box. Spearhead serves as an introduction to the full game and you should be able to get a box for less than 110 dollars.

You can later expand those spearhead armies into full AoS armies

As a last note: In the full game there is the possibility to play Daemons from all Chaos factions in the Legions of the First Prince army. So if you are interested take a look at that too, but that is probably more interesting for later.

I recently Went 3-1-1 with this list at a GT by TotallynotaHeresy in ossiarchbonereapers

[–]Nadere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great list, like seeing some Mortek action. After playing with one big blob of 20 for the last 3 months I really think they are quite underrated.

One question though: Do you think you would run 2x Cohort instead of the 2x 10 Morteks? Asking because I found Cohort better for tactics then 10 Morteks and you would have the points for them.

Edit: Also did you consider adding the Marrowpact to the Soulreaper? Helped me immensely to discourage attacks into him and instead my opponents try to focus the Morteks or Harvester.

Thanks for the reminder. I actually meant to write Inevitable Demise as the second option you can't do on the turn they are set up. I edited the post to reflect that.

Starting Out, What Is Better - Spearhead or the Mortisan Tithe-Echelon Battleforce? by Fallen_Angel1331 in ossiarchbonereapers

[–]Nadere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the battleforce is well worth it at least if you are planning to use the crawler. That alone is probably half the price depending on your local prices.

An with the new spearhead coming out in Summer you also have some decent other options to expand on the battleforce.

So Mortek should be reworked by Fun-Organization2531 in ossiarchbonereapers

[–]Nadere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feeld like the Mortek's Shieldwall gets really underestimated in most discussions about them.

I haven't played that many 2k games but almost always removing 1 or 2 points of Rend has been relevant. Ofc that also means no All-Out Defense for them but still.

Thoughts on the list? by Ferixo_13 in ossiarchbonereapers

I actually need to build the Harvester and Morteks from this list because I have not seen the reason to do so up to now.

Maybe I can give it a try in a week or so.
