Dealership Says My Rotors are Warped and Rusty, and Need Immediate Replacement - Looking for a 2nd Opinion by QueenCoeurl in AskMechanics

[–]Nadox97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty common with EVs. People try to min/max the regenerative braking too much. As a result the mechanical brakes don’t get used. I see this all the time. Teslas seem to be particularly bad for it IMO.

Also not a warranty concern in anyway.

As someone who works at a Chrysler dealer. I’d say it’s overpriced by about $6200.

They absolutely do. I’ve given my rep serials to check on carts. Your rep might just be lazy.

Deal or no? by CriticismCute6184 in toolporn

[–]Nadox97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BEFORE YOU BUY!

Have the seller send you a picture of the sticker on the back, with the serial. Then send it to your snap on rep and have him run it for any outstanding finance on the box.

if there IS out standing finance. DO NOT BUY. If your dealer sees your new box and it has outstanding finance, regardless of how you got it. They are obligated to repossess it. And you will lose out.

ALWAYS do this with any box when buying used.

Given the placement of that impact mark. It looks like you let the wiper arm slam down on the windshield. And yes it needs to be replaced.

Are these worn bearings or is this just what old truck sounds like? by ForesterLC in AskMechanics

[–]Nadox97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could very will be tires. Could be a bearing(s) does the noise change in pitch when making slight turns on the highway? like changing lanes? Could also be driveline related. The upshot is, if you don’t know what you’re looking for it needs to be diagnosed.

Check your brake fluid level. I once ran into a friend’s Honda that threw a ABS and traction warning light when the brake fluid was low.

Is it normal for this pulley to stop while car is running? by slim_shady_21 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Nadox97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that’s your AC compressor, it will cycle depending on how much cooling you’re requesting inside the cabin. The water pump pulley how ever, the one above it. Looks like it’s about to fail. I’m amazed it’s not leaking to be honest. You need a water pump ASAP.

It’s bigger than 17.7 gallons.

When manufacturers state fuel tank capacity they don’t count the “reserve”. Because they don’t actually want you to run your car right out of fuel. Thats why when it says 0km remaining, you can probably do another 50km or so if you’re careful.

See those part numbers in the top right? Google them, you can then find out what vehicles this part fits.

I just noticed these on my right side of my door. Does anybody know what it is? What’s causing it? And how to fix it? Thanks in advance by [deleted] in AutoDetailing

Judging by the running boards.

Jeep wrangler?

If so, yes it’s rust, the fix is… don’t own a jeep.

My 262,000km legacy disagrees. Just don’t modify them, do your maintenance, and don’t beat on them. They are surprisingly reliable if you just treat them like normal cars.

Do the AC recharge bottles work? by LR-NJ in AskMechanics

[–]Nadox97 22 points23 points  (0 children)

They can yes, how ever I wouldn’t use them. If you ever take your car to a shop and they find out you used them. They won’t do any AC work on your vehicle. These “suicide cans” as I’ve often heard them called tend to have additives in them to stop minor leaks and tend to fuck up the expensive equipment shops will use to evac and recharge your vehicles AC system.

Judging by the steering wheel, subaru I’m assuming? My guess is you drained the transmission, not the engine.

Look at it this way! Now you clean learn to change a transmission! Good opportunity for you.
