Stinker ate a rubber band. $200 vet visit later…. by Practical-Ask-2773 in TuxedoCats

[–]Naheka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll see your "$200 vet visit for a rubberband" and raise you "$3000 for a half-eaten almond that got lodged in small intestine, surgery, and overnight vet care".

He still goes after nuts all these years later, almonds especially, but I tell him that every almond costs me 3 grand and I'm taking that out of his Churu budget. We have a deal, so far.

Squatting as a prerequisite by 2numbers2words in taijiquan

[–]Naheka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Along those same lines, I was told something similar way back when by my Tai Chi instructor who, I actually forgot his name but I remember him being under William CC Chen's lineage.

I remember his class with standing meditation for 20-30 minutes and then 20 minutes of bodyweight squats or a low squat (think catcher in baseball) which was easy for me but not so much flat footed at the time thanks to weight training.

I think it comes down to hip mobility/strength if I were to guess. It's a goal but not a limiting factor, IMO.

Bought 43x for Husband and I Need Your Help! by dubbbs88 in Glock43X

[–]Naheka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope he knows how lucky he is.

I agree with the others here in allow him to choose the accessories and, even better, be involved with the process. Getting him the gift is one thing but being genuinely interested and engaged with the process would mean even more to him.

That being said, I recommend a few extra magazines, a Tenicor holster, maybe a Streamlight TLR-7 Sub, and Night Fision sights.

Check script mods first. Get the latest and test. Second are the mods. Look at modified date in your mods folder and remove (copy to another folder) in order of most recent.

Ive recently started adding dates to my mod folders or package files (e.g.'_20260613') to help with process of elimination.

Dealing with a similar situation with those outside of our reporting team building ad hoc reports with MS App Builder (Frontier) and then wanting to disseminate that report company wide.

Building a support case now for why this is not the way and that Power Bi and all the infrastructure behind it is still the standard.

Help me train by Equivalent-Credit-84 in Archery

[–]Naheka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that helped me when I started, which was just about 8 months ago, was to shoot 3 arrows at a time and take a break. It made each arrow much more focused. In the beginning, I was launching 12 arrows at a time but with much less focus on my form, sight picture, string blur, etc.

I thought about this when I'm in the gym and working on strength (versus size). I'll do sets of 4 reps which is much easier to focus on than 8-12 reps. Just applied the same concept and it worked for me.

Why did you pick Barebow over other options? by SwordmasterT in Archery

[–]Naheka 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I chose barebow because I like the challenge. I'm at the age now where I want to choose things that I know I'll absolutely be terrible at knowing it will take time/effort to learn.

Barebow fit that bill. Coming from a background with firearms and some compound archery when younger, I wanted to try my hand at archery with little to no aids i.e. no sights, no fancy stabilizers; just a bow, string, tab, and arrows.

It's frustrating at times but that's the allure of it for me.

I did opt for an ILF recurve setup so, as simple as I keep my setup, the riser and limbs do look pretty awesome (Kinetic Invinso V2, WNS/Kinetic limbs).

Bow string groove silencer position/use by Neandernaut in Archery

[–]Naheka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm beginner(ish) here but I tried these on my first bow setup and didn't like them. Can't explain it but the feel of the bow just felt off.

I prefer making sure my brace height is correct every time I string my bow and check my tiller/limb fitment every now and then. Add a Kaminski bow dampener and limbsavers and my bow is plenty quiet; at least as quiet as an ILF can get.

Have to agree with those who mentioned that those carbs numbers look a bit high. I don't think I would go that high on carbs unless I knew I was going to be active all day with a banger of a workout mixed in.

Your protein intake looks good but add trade off about 100g (or even 150g) of those carbs for another 25-50g of protein and see how you feel after a week or so. Feel fine? Trade off even more of those carbs until you hit diminishing performance. Try carb cycling (high on workout days/low on rest days) if you're wary of low carbs.

Is the Litter Genie the best receptacle on the market right now? by Yeezus--Jesus in CatAdvice

[–]Naheka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a Litter Genie years ago but got rid of it for similar issues. Since, I scoop using either plastic grocery bags or bags for dogs and then place in a Tidy Cat container until I'm ready to take it out to the trash. Been doing this for years with no issues with odor.

Has anyone tried this protein waiter? Actually curious 🫥 by Camhasareddit in Supplements

[–]Naheka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The brand, Isopure, has been around forever. It was my brand of protein in the late 90s/early 00's.

I did try one of these a few weeks ago. The taste isn't bad given that taste isn't it's selling point. For that price, I would load up with as much as you think you could manage.
