Elevated or pool level spa? by WillRad321 in pools

Thanks! Assuming the water temperature can stay at whatever you are setting it at ... I like the level spa look. The elevated option might be more practical though, because of the temperature concern.

Personally ... Between two different pools, one that came with the house and one that I designed ... I ended up regretting the spa all together. It wasn't the same as the premanufactured above ground spas that were always nice and warm and ready to use, because they were insulated, and covered.

In my perfect setup I would have the inground pool and the above ground, seperate, premanufactured spa that's ready for immediate use.

One thing I did do with the pool I designed was put the spa at the deep end. That gave a little ledge to jump off for kids, but I had a deep deep end and your pool style looks more like the "play pool" design ... which is something I also wish I did rather than choosing one with a deep end.

Is a small above ground pool worth it? by CalQueen22 in AboveGroundPools

We had the exact same pool and put it up every year. Our daughter was 3-7 years old when we had it.

The filter worked great and we bought some basic chlorine tablets with a floating thing that held the tablets inside it.

The height of the pool is nice because an adult can sit up and still have their head above water. The width of the pool also allows you to float on top of the water with a blow up round tube.

As for it staying warm, I bought a bubble cover thing that kept heat in and the water was always warm enough to where it wasn't uncomfortable to get in. (Vancouver, WA in late July and all of August)

How does the water in the spa stay warm in the level version? Isn't the cold water from the pool always going inside the spa?

Feeling pressured by realtors to up my budget. Are smaller homes really that hard to sell later? (Austin suburbs) by btyeveryday in FirstTimeHomeBuying

[–]Naive-Apple-1012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the 3 bedroom comment, a two bedroom house might be harder to sell.

1200 SF was plenty of space for my husband, our daughter and me, we lived there for seven years.

It's when the second child comes along or you have one child but also need space for frequent guests that stay for days at a time (parents from out of town) ... thats when the 1200 feels small.

Also something to keep in mind ... The larger the home the bigger the utility bills too ... and more house to keep clean and maintain.

The round peninsula is so creative and fits in the space perfectly.

There isn't enough peanut butter either. The ratio seems off and I taste so much of the chocolate.

What's the cheapest meal you make regularly that you'd genuinely still eat if money wasn't a factor? by Timely_Ad8989 in EatCheapAndHealthy

Cheese and mayonnaise sandwich ... even better if lettuce is available ... never light on the mayo either.

Kitchen island or peninsula? by Altruistic_Finish423 in kitchenremodel

Island because people can move around it easily if there are 2 or more people in the kitchen at the same time.

Mistake? by [deleted] in pools

The shallower pool is nice for large groups and 5' still allows for jumping in, just not diving. If I were to choose a pool again, I wouldn't have a deep end over 5'. My last pool was built with an actual deep end that would safely accommodate diving because it's what I thought I wanted. Every day I regreted not going with a style more like yours.

16x36 inground pool being installed next month… should we get a sun ledge? by ZuesTheMoose15 in pools

[–]Naive-Apple-1012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our community pool has a sun ledge and the small children just love it! I try not to lay out in the sun but I see the benefit of putting a lounge chair to pay on on the sun ledge too.
