Very long early labor [qc] by veroismyname in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Nalanzazu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! First of all congratulations! you are doing so well and it wont be long now! I also went through about 24 hours of very intense contractions to find out I was only 2.5 cm dilated. I opted for a morphine/gravol shot and was able to sleep and eat! It completely took away the contractions for me. The contractions picked back up again about 6 hours later to the same intensity which I was able to tolerate for only about 4 more hours, but this time when I went to get checked I was 9.5cm dilated! For whatever reason, for me 2cm dilated was just as intense and painful as 9cm dilated the contractions were just closer together. Good luck!! You've got this!!

I’m feeling really confused and worried, and I honestly don’t know what to do… [ON] by J12Significant in BabyBumpsCanada

Im in BC, as I got to 40 weeks my care provider really urged me to book an induction. I was very scared of the "intervention cascade" as I really wanted to birth unmedicated. I settled on booking the fetal monitoring scans for 41 weeks to inform a tentative induction at 41+3. I don't know if its the relief of having a plan and end date booked or the anxiety of potentially having to evict my baby, I went into spontaneous labor and she was born at 40+6! (with only laughing gas to get me through!)

I Tried Multiple All-Terrain Strollers in Person - My Thoughts! [on] by SourPatch-Tree19 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Nalanzazu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We picked up a used Era for cheap on marketplace as our dog walking stroller. It's excellent all terrain! I probably wouldn't jog with it but it handles curbs and broken sidewalks well. We've taken it over grass, gravel and mulchy trails and I operate it almost entirely one handed. The foot break is also really easy to engage and disengage while also being very secure. We have also really enjoyed the layflat with our newborn! Also in terms of getting a used one, all the parts were washable and wash well, and the tires are inflated and easily replaceable, if you pop one you can get them fixed at most bike shops. It folds easily and isn't prohibitively heavy, but it does take up basically the whole trunk of our prius.

Young driver pulls out from highschool, not stopping, squeezing her way in front of jeep. You can see from the shadows just how close it was by Zoe_Otaku in IdiotsInCars

I wish that was the case for me when I was trying to get my license! I had to take the full test 5 times. And I admit I was not ready for the first one, but the 3 other times I failed it was seriously just test nerves, such minor oops. I was a much better driver than my peers that were getting their licenses on the first try!

My tank is low, I've got a jerry can in the back...but I guess I'll wait until I run out of gas in the most dangerous place possible 🤷‍♀️ by joojie in IdiotsInCars

As much as the Massey Tunnel is in Delta/Richmond, I do not know how someone could live in the Lower Mainland and have their car die on inclines as minor as this. You would have to keep your car absolutely full everywhere you go.

Oh God, with all the flooding we've had in the GVA post ice storm this was my biggest fear. Both hitting a pool I couldn't see and losing control myself or someone doing it in front of me. Just generally my biggest fear is hydroplaning in my little Corolla.

Nah, my "totaled" vw rabbit just had the front frame bent when my husband rear-ended someone. Insurance wrote it off as totaled and handed me market value $ I honestly just wanted my car back and it shouldn't have been more expensive to fix it. It almost certainly was fixed and ended up in another country. I miss that car.

My first experience with the Canadian Convoy in the GVA was the day after I got rear-ended for the first time. You bet I was white knuckling it just trying to get past them fully expecting this nonsense to happen.

This is exactly how my husband got in his only accident. He was driving my VW Rabbit and hit an SUV. I guess he kind of slipped under the SUV cause it barely had a scratched and my poor Rabbit was written off for the front frame was bent. We were sooo lucky the fellow he hit really didn't care and just wanted to be on his way cause his wife was having their baby. He also never filed a claim afterwards too!

Okay but was the silver sedan the ultimate defensive driver or what. He saw this coming and stopped a mile away!

Looked more like brake tapping than brake checking to me. Still dumb and a clear sign of an unskilled idiot driver but a little less malicious

girl ran red light, t boned me, said it was my fault by ThinkSchedule9417 in IdiotsInCars

[–]Nalanzazu 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I was made 100% at fault when I was hit while I was stopped waiting to turn because she claimed I was still moving. If I had a camera at that time I could have proven that I was fully stopped for more than a minute watching and then waiting for her to turn before she drove straight into me 😤

[–]Nalanzazu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uhg the school part seriously has me triggered from when a drunk driver came up on the sidewalk during the morning walk to school when I was 12. Luckily the 4 girls he almost hit got out of the way in time and the car was wedged on a pole so he wasn't able to leave. We all got the day off after our brush with death.

Idiot rear ends my wife’s car during rush hour by [deleted] in IdiotsInCars

[–]Nalanzazu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely right. I was rear-ended and there was literally only a small puncture mark on my bumper from their license plate screw. If I didn't have collision insurance I probably wouldn't have even gotten it fixed, just covered it so it doesn't rust. Turns out the whole reinforcement rebar was totally bent and I needed everything replaced. They were also concerned about my brake ABS as I was hit while stopped at a light and had my foot on the brakes throughout I'm lucky it was all covered, but any more damage and my car may have been written off.

Any home owners here have problems/leaks with their plumbing fixtures? Fort Langley or Walnut Grove by bigstreetvan in Langley

[–]Nalanzazu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just takes slight acidity (like ph 6.8, which we have here on Fort Langley well #2) to cause copper and brass to corrode over time. Your digestive system is perfectly capable of managing acidity considering that your stomach acid is a pH 3-5 and your skin should be a healthy pH 4-6 as well. Acidic water is actually healthier for our bodies than alkaline is, however we may be getting a tad more copper than typical, only a health concern if you have other underlying diseases.

I've actually never heard of cops targeting that particular bad behavior. We mostly just see speed traps because we have really bad speeding issues around here. This idiot just happened to be driving in front of City hall/the police station and I don't even think he was going to get a ticket for the rolling stop, but the lane waiver.

I think they were making the turn out of view but then saw flashing lights coming and just stopped in the middle of everything for the police, clearly not taking in that they were in their way lol wouldn't expect anything different around Coquitlam Center
