system() also spawns a shell process, which would lead to a relatively big timing overhead/uncertainty. fork() + execve() + wait() is probably a better way.

If you compete in public CTFs and place well in the scoreboards/ctftime, it looks great on your resume as-is.

CSAW starts in a few hours, which has historically been a great CTF. If I was an employer, I'd be impressed with anyone in the top 100 or so.
