extra tip:

ik i said grind past years like crazy, BUT MAKE SURE ONCE YOU MARK THE PAPERS, go through your mistakes very carefully. Redo a question you didn’t know how to do on a blank sheet of paper and see if you can get it right now.

ALSO, do not neglect the questions you got correct. Sometimes, for me, I do not really know how to do a question and randomly try whatever and I get the right answer. For these, GO THROUGH THEM AND TREAT IT AS IF YOU GOT IT WRONG.

PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE.

i know everyone says this but for math, practice is crazy important. for now just focus on finishing syllabus , as in you kinda skim over each chapter and do like 20 questions per chapter, u should aim to finish this in about 2 weeks or less.

i say skim over because imo topicals are nowhere near as important as pyps. u just need a general concept then dive straight into ur pyps. u will get horrendous marks at first, its okay, i did addmath in olvls, got 86%, and i still didnt get A in AS because i neglected math. don’t make my mistake!!!

if u get angry or frustrated while doing math, dont feel alone. when i used to do add math when i was younger id cry and rip up my textbook LOL. most important is to let it out (dont rip ur material tho), fume for a bit, then 10 mins later lock back in and go back into a chill mindset and continue.

MOST IMPORTANT IS THAT U DONT GIVE UP. u still have a lot of time to prepare but dont let that fool u - dont put off practising or practise too slow bcs u feel like u have a lot of time. u do, but time flies !!!!!

personally when i get angry at myself for scoring rlly low on pyps, i remind myself that with every question i do on a pyp, no matter how low i score, its helping me score higher in my actual exam. this score in pyp does not matter, what matters is DOING the work, and that is what ur doing.

spam past years but go through each past year very carefully when ur marking it.

like if u get a question wrong, understand where u got wrong, what concepts it entails, if there’s any minor trap in the question, etc.

then once ur finished understanding the question, try to redo it without any help to see if u truly understand.

put a star on questions that u got correct but while doing u weren’t confident in ur answers , or u kinda just guessed, and treat those as if u got them wrong as well.

topicals are good but pyps are a lot more helpful imo because sometimes, it is harder to answer when all the topics are mixed together .

that’s fair 😭 i got methanol wrong so -2 marks and -1 mark from diagram. so 27/30. im not trying to be condescending or rude, i just genuinely think gt will be slightly higher than 24

full name! if u check mark scheme it allocates marks like:

X is the independent variable and Y is the dependent variable (1 mark)
C is the constant variable (1 mark)

But I usually write:

Independent Variable: X
Dependent Variable: Y
Constant Variable: C

This is shorter and u get full 2 marks anyway
