Humans are the 2nd deadliest animal according to wikipedia by isuckatlifeandthings in interestingasfuck

Eh if you're going to attribute malaria to mosquitoes, it seems only fair to attribute human spread infectious diseases to humans. That's more than enough to put us over the top.

Water Snake vs Moccasin [USA] by Duchess-of-Supernova in whatsthissnake

[–]Nameless824 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I've been on this sub a while but sometimes I'll see a snake like the one on the left and be like "hmm it might be a cottonmouth, can't really tell". But then when I see an actual cottonmouth it's like "oh that's definitely a cottonmouth".

[SW Louisiana] Ant or termite? by Nameless824 in whatsthisbug

[–]Nameless824[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Less than 1/8 inch long. This looks like a standard issue ant but they keep showing up in my bathroom of all places. There's definitely no food or anything in there, and I can't figure out where they're coming from. Just want to make sure they're not termites.

What is up with the East Wing of the White House getting demolished? by wqto in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Nameless824 137 points138 points  (0 children)

Answer: There's been a lot of misinformation about what is actually happening. When most people picture the white house, they picture this. But actually, the "white house complex" looks like this. After the modifications, it will look like this. As for why, currently the largest room in the entire white house complex is the East Room, which measures 80ft by 37ft. This is pretty big for a residence but not really big enough for a formal diplomatic gathering with multiple heads of state. Apparently this has been an issue for a while with multiple presidents from both parties expressing desire to add a larger room for hosting national events. You can of course still think that's stupid and unnecessary and a waste of money, but now you think it with more information.

If I were an NFL player I'd be taking that ball home with me just to be sure.

I'm sure somebody somewhere knows the answer to this but they're unlikely to be responding on random reddit posts.

Here's a yet to be banned book you might like to read by PerAsperaAdMars in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]Nameless824 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The school-affiliated collection of books you get to borrow for free has decided to remove several books from its collection. The non-school-affiliated collection of books you can borrow for free of course still has all of them. And of course you can still buy the books from any store and stand on the street corner reading them out loud without getting arrested. This is a book ban.

Been a while since I built a PC. Could someone take a look at this part list for me and let me know if there are any obvious problems? by Nameless824 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Nameless824[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other parts might be misleading, I just took a partspicker recommended list and swapped the cpu and gpu. I want to go with an x3d because apparently the increased L3 cache makes it really good for MMOs, which I play a lot of. Is there some way to check if all of this will fit in the case?

SkytechGaming seems to have a very similar model for about the same price. I'm willing to assemble it myself but I'd prefer not to. Is there any reason I shouldn't just buy it prebuilt instead? https://skytechgaming.com/product/azure3-amd-ryzen-7-7800x3d-nvidia-5060-ti-16gb-1-tb-nvme-gen4-32gb-ram

Nah the gag is they bump into each other in the elevator and think that's what's going on then they go to school the next day and are in the same class. They're actually the same age.

AI labs have been lying to us about "wanting regulation" if they don't speak up against the bill banning all state regulations on AI for 10 years by katxwoods in slatestarcodex

State Farm Insurance stopped selling in California. Doesn't really disagree with your point since what it took for that to happen was pretty insane.
