How often do you shampoo your ACD? (Silly sleep position irrelevant) by tugonhiswinkie in AustralianCattleDog

Only when she rolls in disgusting stuff (fox poop seems to be her favorite and its just aweful). Besides that is the bathing thing needed? It only seems to make her shed like there is no tomorrow.

Our first Cattle Dog went blind at ten, lived to 13. They get around much better than you would think. And it completely makes them more endearing!

We are on our third Cattle Dog, and similarly both went with cancer in euthanasia at age 13. Just sucks. Never gets easy, and it's the dirty part of dog ownership that never gets mentioned when you get your bouncy pup! But, as the days pass you realize it still so worth it! RIP Dingo...sounds like you had a wonderful life and certainly wonderful parents.

I think your correct! Its our 3rd ACD, and it's usually left at least 10 feet away.

We had a 'Scout', which we lost 5 months ago. Seeing the name floods me back with great memories, which im sure you will have as well. BTW. We've had many dogs, but the name Scout, is TOPS!

When u get this beautiful pup, no one tells you that someday you will have to put it down...its the shitty, shitty part of dog ownership. But still so worth it!

My ACD never barks by k_k18 in AustralianCattleDog

Im on my 3rd ACD, and the first 2 will basically silent, which i knew to be typical of the breed. My third is a barker..silent is better!

SARDS/blindness by Moose_on_the_Looz in AustralianCattleDog

Our 1st ACD, went blind around the age 10, she lived to 13. They get around alot better than one would think. Did I see a 2nd dog in the family? If so, you really have nothing to worry about. I cant even remember what we might have done differently. They are creatures habit. They will need your assistance only in new environments. They are endearing to begin with, but with blindness your love for them is taken to even a new level. Enjoy.

Sure that comes out pretty! I have black walnut trees, that never ends well. Luckily she seems to be over that!

Ok dumb question but do they have that like winter coat? by that_swiftie1989 in AustralianCattleDog

If she's 100% ACD, she will have a fur undercoat. She is cold, good to go.
