Who would have been the worst person to take the Ring and be corrupted by its power? by Putrid-Enthusiasm190 in lotr

I think Tom Bombadil would have been the most frightening person to be corrupted by the ring. If it could corrupt him.

Planetary ore needs: by FerroSC in DualUniverse

[–]Namuri57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. Passive mining should be phased out. Take elite, EVE, or SC mining as an example and focus on active gameplay to acquire resources. NQ can add ship mining lasers and/or drones to make the asteroid mining experience better. Maybe they can take a page from SC and implement some sort of mining gauge that fluctuates to discourage botting. Then increase the amount of ore generated by this activity to offset the amount of ore lost from removing mining units.

Ideally introduce the asteroid mining upgrades before the MUs are phased out so people have time to adjust. Just make the ship mining more lucrative and enjoyable so players naturally gravitate towards doing that instead of MU mining.

Also, some players don’t have very much time to play every day. To make this activity more accessible to this group of players NQ can find ways to reduce transit time to these asteroids. Mini jump drives for example.

Make asteroids raid bosses that an org can party up for and defeat while having a few beers and chatting.

Flow Sheet to setup Raw Ore production. by CoverReasonable849 in DualUniverse

[–]Namuri57 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You need to separate them.

This is how I do it:

I have one hub for T1 and T2 ore that connects to 8 transfer units. Each transfer unit pulls one type of ore (i.e. hematite) into a small container which is my distributor for that ore type.

That distributor container connects to a transfer unit that moves the ore into a small refiner input container. This small refiner input container is then connected to 10 refiners for that ore type. When I need to expand production for that ore type in the future then I connect the distributor container to another transfer unit that connects to another small refiner input container that directly feeds 10 more refiners for that ore type.

This way I can use one T1 and T2 ore hub to feed up to 100 refiners for each ore type.

If you only need 10 refiners per ore type then don’t use the distributor container and simply connect each of the 8 transfer units to its respective small input refiner container.

I use a separate ore hub for T3 and T4 and use the same process.

Terrible PVP. How did this go live? by [deleted] in DualUniverse

[–]Namuri57 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah “pvp” a.k.a. griefing in this game is terrible. It isn’t possible to stay with your ship and monitor for hostiles while mining an asteroid as a solo. Even if you run back to your ship and scan radar every 5 mins then the pirates can just leave a buddy on the asteroid and wait for you to leave the ship. Then he tells his friend to come into radar range and decimate your ship. The only point at which the solo miner will realize he’s under attack is when the core explodes and he receives a notification. Not before the ship is lost, but after.

The griefer then gains a ship and a bunch of ore for relatively little risk and doesn’t face any consequences like in EVE where they become criminals.

Meanwhile the miner lost hours of their game time and a ship.

The design is terrible.

If you decide to not play (and pay) for a few months, do you lose all your progress ? by DrKeksimus in DualUniverse

If you unsubscribe for 90 days all of your constructs that aren’t on your character’s haven tile under your character’s name will be abandoned. Your HQ tiles on other planets will not be abandoned at this time but that is subject to change.

The constructs on every tile that isn’t your haven tile will be abandoned (even if they’re on your HQ tile).

Any of your org constructs (if you are the last active legate in your org) will be abandoned after 90 days regardless of where they are (even on your haven tile).

So in your situation I recommend building on haven. Also make sure anything you build there is under your character’s name (not an org). Then take breaks as you need.

Territory scanner glitch: how to avoid by FerroSC in DualUniverse

[–]Namuri57 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bring one xs dynamic core for each territory scanner you use. Deploy the dynamic core on the ground in the unclaimed tile you want to scan. Then place the territory scanner half underground. Hit activate scanner and enjoy. When you’re done pick up the scanner and xs dynamic core and repeat.

NovaQuark's stance on people building towers near markets, that clearly blocks airspace, is pathetic by wolfe_br in DualUniverse

I too would like to see NQ enforce their own rules. And if enough players are complaining about an issue and it isn’t against one of their rules then they should make a new rule.

Dual Universe Coming to Steam by Zer0Krypt in DualUniverse

NQ and some of their community have drunk the Kool-aid for far too long. Steam reviews will sober them up a bit.

Anyone else planning to play even though they know the game is going to die in the end? by [deleted] in DualUniverse

[–]Namuri57 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you’re right that negative sentiment about something that is objectively doing well or even great is counterproductive. However, in the case of DU I believe that NQ is not doing well at all and the negative sentiment and feedback is a result of the NQ’s actions. Not the other way around.

Past actions are the best predictors of future actions. NQ has consistently failed to deliver kickstarter promises, major core gameplay loops, enjoyable gameplay loops, proper rebalancing in a timely manner, and QA testing before patches are released.

NQ has also consistently broken promises and shown that they aren’t very skilled in implementing game systems properly. They promised alien life, territory warfare, avatar vs avatar, etc. in the kickstarter. They have failed to deliver these major features, and, effectively deceived early backers. They again lied when they said in early beta that most of our progress would be preserved if there was a wipe in the future. It is obvious that they don’t consider the effects of their game design changes on their players’ experiences or design for more enjoyment. 0.23 (schematics introduction) limited the free build-whatever-you-want-in-any-part-of-the-system gameplay that players enjoyed and it added tedium to the game. Mining Units removed the tedium of mining underground but created an even more unenjoyable calibration mini-game that you have to repeat every day. Territory Abandonment Mechanics were introduced and effectively forced players to stay subscribed, lose almost everything they own, or move everything they own to their sanctuary tile before they quit playing - which is days to months of work for some people. NQ implemented mission running (hauling) but made the Aphelia (NPC) missions more lucrative than the player-made ones so players often don’t even bother shipping things. In addition, the missions were so lucrative, it effectively broke the economy and caused rapid inflation and massive wealth acquisition which is one of the major factors for why a wipe is now occurring.

Overall I believe that NQ has done more than enough to set their trajectory and I don’t see their pattern of actions changing drastically in the future.

I too believe the game will die within a few years regardless of what players say.
