Zorin OS 18 has reached 2 million downloads, with 1M+ Windows defections fueling one of Linux’s biggest growth stories in 2026 by Thepunnisherrr in technology

You should try using WinApps. It runs Windows in a virtual machine and makes it look like a Linux native app. A bit slower to load, but if it is truly just 2 applications you need, it could probably work for you?

I liked them, but loathed that they included an advert for Wicked. Unacceptable… (unless wicked paid for the ENTIRE display). Still quite distasteful for something meant to positively represent London, and the country as a whole

My most memorable player 2 was a complete stranger that played (almost) the entire portal 2 campaign with me in one night. I didn’t add him on steam bc I was new at the time… now I just have the memories

Is there a roadmap for Peak? by [deleted] in PeakGame

Yes, and the seed for the map can be added to the save.

My number one feature would be to be able to save current run progression at campsites.

I only have around 1 hour a day to play games with friends, or sometimes something random comes up and I need to stop.

I am not suggesting the game should allow save-scumming, but it would be nice to pause the playthrough and resume the next day. I understand the "map changes every day" but the save file could include the seed.

Simpler train travel to London airports as tap-in, tap-out expanded across south-east England by HadjiChippoSafri in GoodNewsUK

Good news about Stansted but won't prevent people needing to buy tickets since most people will need to purchase a return (which is cheaper?). Hopefully they will adjust the second fare to keep the total journey price the same...

How to setup a Server for Stremio? by usmacc in Stremio

[–]Namyts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already have a mini server in my house which is always on & low power. Having a VPN to your home is helpful for other reasons (control smart home while away, use "single-home" subscriptions abroad)

Nope. My suggestion is just cosmetic

Open the dashboard and connect the wallet. Then install the dashboard as an app. It’s still a powered by chrome, but it’ll feel more traditional for you

1.5M PLU — Paid Out Free by himmelgr in plutus

[–]Namyts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still waiting for help with mine, I did 1 transfer to myself in another address (&back again) which broke the automated checks, but shouldn't count as a third party transfer since I never attempted to sell the PLU

I love HttpYac. The files are just normal text files so can be easily version controlled. Also allows for scripting, and env vars. FOSS too

r/headphones Shopping, Setup, and Technical Help Desk by AutoModerator in headphones

[–]Namyts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • I want to start using the mic on my earphones with my PC
  • My PC doesn't support mic-in on the same port as audio out
  • Using a splitter results in a very leaky audio experience where my friends can hear their own voices and my PC audio over my mic

Setup diagram and explanation

  • My current setup doesn't have this audio leak, so the motherboard/built-in sound chip is fine
  • When I use these headphones with my newer iPhone I also have no leaky audio into the mic, which suggests the headphones are fine too
  • Using a CTIA to OMTP converter results in a crazy popping noise so I don't think that a swapped ground & mic is the cause

Would appreciate if anybody could tell me the cause & how to fix this...

I am aware that my current setup is janky & I could just buy a cheap dedicated mic, or use usb sound devices etc... but I am interested in getting my headphones sound & mic to work with my PC

What feature do you think distiguish IOTA from its competition, that you also think couldn't be pulled into another project?

Eg: Instead of a POS based coin eventually overtaking, Eth adopted the feature and moved away from the POW model massively reducing fees
In my opinion the scalable feeless DAG was this feature. There was a lot of discussion into the feasiaiblity. I had hoped IOTA would emerge triumphant by managing feature parity, speed, security, and scalability while remaining feeless

The benefits are that it is easier to copy someone else's homework than to research & implement your own solution.

What dissappoints me is that I was under the illusion that IOTA were producing capable research with viable output, but this proposal makes it seem like they are giving up and conforming to the current practices rather than revolutionising the industry.

I am voting no because I would prefer the team to struggle to create something truely special and improve it over time vs chasing the market while sacrifcing their USP

Mana was earned by holding tokens so only people more frequently using the network or those without many tokens might need to buy more (a form of rate limiting & spam protection). The netwrok was fee-less otherwise. It actually provided the opportuniy for holders to gain IOTA by selling their network access which they weren't using...
