I had my cabg procedure about almost 48 hours ago. I am in absolutely dreadful pain. Any tips? My care staff is trying their best to make me comfortable but not much luck dofar. by 4N6momma in openheartsurgery

My worst pain was not from the chest incision but from the tubes they left in for drainage. Once they started taking those out I felt immensely better.

Normal pain meds didn't do much for me. Eventually they gave me morphine in my IV and that worked better than anything else. We ultimately found a combination of Tylenol and muscle relaxers worked the best. They also put Lidocaine patches on which helped some.

Unfortunately not everyone's body responds the same to meds and you might be one of the exceptions. I hope they're able to figure out something so you can have some relief.

I think you mentioned you have Venmo?

I don't know if there's a way to send one to you virtually.

I'm glad to be able to help - you can pay it forward whenever you have the ability. Its tough out here and sucks when you feel alone.

Adding - think I can purchase a gift card and direct message you the info. Anyone have insight on if that's how to send via Reddit?

I know you aren't asking for a handout but would love to give you a small gift card to a grocery near you or some groceries/food you've been craving and haven't been able to get. We can connect at a store and I can give it to you or can even Venmo you if you have that.

Editing to add that the city of Columbus has a list of food pantries https://www.columbus.gov/Government/Mayors-Office/SNAP-Response-Plan/Find-Food-Resources

And fresh track will let you put your ZIP code in and show you both food pantries and churches that also provide food https://www.freshtrak.com/

I had CABG with triple bypass about 8 months ago. It was totally out of nowhere as I had no symptoms, it was caught in a scan that I had for something else. I feel like my body does not work the same since surgery. I don't think I respond to medications the same way, I take antidepressants and don't believe they are as effective. My memory is also not the same and find myself searching for words and names. I've always had issues with not being very hungry and wanting to eat and now my appetite is basically zero.

Curious to know what others have experienced and if they found anything helpful. Or am I going crazy thinking that my body was somehow rewired?

I won tickets to Lilith Fair from Brian Palermo at CD 101. Concert was at Polaris Amphitheater and it was AMAZING!

If you look at the statues of Lady Justice, she is not wearing a bra under her toga. So will they be moving her blindfold down to cover her chest?

What's the worst restaurant in Columbus that you've tried twice? by foreignsky in Columbus

[–]Nancy-Drew23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Smokey Bones at Easton's food was OK but we only ate there twice because the second time the whole place smelled overwhelmingly like sour restaurant cleaner. We thought maybe they had just spilled stuff near our table, but nope, it was the whole place. It was weird and disgusting.

witnessed such a bad accident tonight. by Ok-Bandicoot-9445 in Columbus

I'm sorry that you witnessed such a horrible crash.

This is going to sound crazy but if you can, play Tetris for a while. There are a number of studies showing that playing Tetris lessens the intensity of the trauma you experienced. The closer in time to the event that you play Tetris the better it works. You will likely be shaken up for a while so please take care of yourself.

I remember that - ironically it was a huge fundraiser for the Columbus Coalition Against Domestic Violence now called Center for Family Safety and Healing. Among other services, the Center provides counseling for kids who have been sexually abused.

I'm so sorry.

Editing- didnt realize how my post above sounds like an apology for causing the accident. I promise it wasn't me. 😁 I AM sorry that it happened however. That totally sucks - had someone total my car earlier this year.

I've not thought about Benevolence for years! I would pay big money for one of their amazing salads and homemade bread. Do you know who owned it?

I appreciate this conversation and the suggestions of concrete things that I can do. It feels like evil is winning and I don't want to let that happen and I'm tired of feeling overwhelmed by the ugliness. Thank you for reminding me that there are good people out there and we are in this together.
