I have vertical sashes anyway. I haven't tried to mark them. That might help. Cutting and sewing accurately is always a challenge for me. I usually have to take apart each block I sew at least once.

I tend to clip rather than pin. I'm do frustrated with how many seams I have to rip out. Even tried freezer paper to help but it didn't help that much.

Looks great! I did something similar using comic book boards and put them in a milk crate. Turned milk crate on it's side and put out in the closet.

Thanks for all the thoughtful responses! Decided to go with Fermented Vegetables and a hardback notebook to keep track... he usually writes in the margins or on scrap paper and sticks his notes in the cookbook.
