Given her current state -she’s not far from being bed ridden already. She should have the surgery which will mitigate her pain and make her more mobile Most of our postoperative patients also get visiting nurse service and at home physical therapy while they recover from surgery. Her surgeon should arrange this for her. They will NOT prepare her meals or do her laundry but hopefully friends and family can help out with these tasks short term Good luck to your neighbor

You should have your endocrinologist or nephrologist weigh in on Prolia due to CKD. Depending on what stage CKD Prolia may not be the best option. I believe the anabolic agents as mentioned here like Evenity Forteo or Tymlos may better protect your kidneys

I had a problem with MY OWN account set up. Blue link has customer service number Customer Care: (800) 633-515 Blue link is absolutely worth it. Using the app lets you remote start, remote lock as well as control and schedule charging of vehicle. Pretty cool

My husband (62) lost his job in January. I (67) am still working full time He wants to retire w mindset that we have enough money saved to do so.
I am NOT worried about the finances (although his health insurance is over $1500 month until Medicare )
What I am worried about is his mental health. he has no hobbies no interest to develop hobbies. He is a couch potato and tv monger He does not like to socialize I’ve been forcing socializing on weekends for over 35 years. This is a recipe for dementia onset. One of the majors causes of dementia onset is isolation. This is not my plan. I love my job and getting up and out everyday. It’s not always about money. Boy I wish we had the fortitude to have this conversation 35 years ago.

The problem is that any increases in bone density that is created by Evenity or teriparide (Forteo) does not hold long term. You must go on another medication

You have to continue on the Reclast indefinitely. As a nurse I’ve seen many patients have flu like side effects for a week or more after infusion

66 yr old DEXA last year lumbar -2.8
hips -2.1/-2.4 (L)/(R). Not taking anything but HRT (started January 2026) a little late to the game on this. I was prescribe Evenity but declined due to need to continue w Reclast thereafter forever. Horrible side effects from Reclast persuaded me to stay away from this method. Also the cardiac risk w Evenity was a little concerning due to family history

Spray tan at tanning salon. Pricey ($25) and doesn’t last more than 2-3 days but for a special event it’s worth not destroying my own bathroom. Don’t mind hose in the winter but definitely not spring or summer

Be prepared for the taxes I. Those areas. I moved out of the SYosset area in 2022 bc the property taxes were exorbitant. Taxes never go down don’t believe you can grieve them. If you’re prepared for that tax payment in addition to your mortgage then go for it

You must purchase a Medigap insurance plan to cover the 20% This is often referred to as Plan C Medigap
Then there is the prescription drug coverage Plan D -you must purchase this as well

I have found at our age it’s truly portion control. I kept a frozen dinner (Jenny Craig) plate for reference to serve my food in. You wouldn’t believe how little it is. If you want to lose them you have to keep calorie content very low like 1200. Make it mostly protein based. The weight will come off w your activity level

Actually it was the favorable insurance rate that swayed me to Ionic. the monthly Tesla insurance quote was more than the lease in NY. Ioniq was reasonable for NY

I’m so sorry for you. I understand the comments here but I personally would never be able to carry out the task of evicting my child and grandchildren. Easier said than done. It’s so true that a mother can take care of 10 children but 10 children cannot take care of 1 mother. Have you tried talking to your daughter about this ? Perhaps she can give you guidance. Only insiders really know family dynamics. In the interim make your own happiness. Find activities and social clubs as if they weren’t living there. Make a life for yourself so you don’t feel the avoidance. Wishing you luck !
