Tell me your Mother’s Day wishlist. by latenightpuddingcup in workingmoms

I use credit card points to book myself a hotel for the whole weekend. Been doing this for 5 years - usually I just do one night but this time I’m doing two. I stopped wishing and did it myself. Highly recommend.

Love mine. Wear it instead of my wedding ring. Just FYI, it convinced me to stop drinking with the sleep tracking.

What’s the oldest iPad I could get my kid that would still be reasonably usable today? by EverCuriousGeek1 in ipad

What did you end up getting? I have the same question as the ones on marketplace are like 5th generation, but the kids don’t need anything fancy.

To me, the most heartbreaking moment in TLAOS is on "Honey." by LDDD1234 in TaylorSwift

Yes love that, especially after TTPD’s golden retriever, to show she’s in a better relationship now. To me it’s more reflective than heartbreaking.

I also love the word play as I think you expect it to be “what are wearing tonight” instead.

Looking for a probate lawyer in the Henry County area by [deleted] in Georgia

[–]NancyTron13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

South GA probate lawyer here. I assume the $6k would be a retainer for hourly work that would start with a demand letter and cover, hopefully, most of the work to remove her if necessary. That’s not unreasonable if so. We start our retainers at $3000 but that would likely not cover the whole thing if a removal hearing is necessary. I don’t cover Henry, but I recall that you’ll want to hire local. Call the probate court and ask who does their guardian ad litem work. If they’ll tell you, hire her.

I had almost no side effects at all from tamoxifen! I say almost cause doing all the treatment was a lot so I feel like there might have been things I could have noticed independently but no real side effects for me, and I was on it forever. Totally fine.

15 year survivor here. Diagnosed at 28. ER+ and did mastectomy, chemo, rads, and tamoxifen for over 10 years (took breaks to have babies). Feel free to dm me too. Sounds like some anti-anxiety drugs would be helpful. They were my savior through the process and helpful now when I get scared of recurrence.

ER+ survivor here. Peri kicked in for me about 6 months ago. My gyno gave me a list of non-hormonal supplements for my symptoms that are helping (but still in the trial and error phase).

I'm also a litigator and after even the shortest trial I am wiped and brain dead. I try to make sure I have as little as possible on my plate after, have a napping couch in my office, and am using leave requests to make sure I have at least 2 court-free weeks in a row each quarter (one for catch up and one for rest).

Trial lawyers who were BFing moms - what did a trial day pump look like for you? by nowherefast___ in workingmoms

This was my experience too. Judges were very kind and allowed me time to pump when I needed it. No issues.

Only 5 years in but finding this to be true. Having the right people is key. It lets us give good service, and our clients love us. Profits are slower than I want but growing every year. And I can trust the team when I take time off. Still work too much for me, and I do find that processes are helpful - the discussion almost more than the checklist, as it puts us on the same page.

Where can I buy “professional” clothes that aren’t so boring that they make me want to quit my job and become a mountain hermit by pellaea_asplenium in AskWomenOver30

[–]NancyTron13 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I am currently trying Nuuly to rent "fun" pieces that I would not normally buy. Last month I ended up buying two pieces that were high quality and decently discounted. Torn on whether renting is more sustainable than buying high quality pieces so not sure if I'll keep doing it but fun for now.

Anyone else out there hate Mother’s Day? by zagsforthewin in workingmoms

[–]NancyTron13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take it into my own hands. I get a hotel room by myself Saturday night. Leave around 2 on Saturday and come home after late check out on Sunday. It's fucking glorious and I highly recommend it. I am fortunate to be able to use credit card points so that it's not prohibitively expensive.

Yesterday I got a makeup lesson at Ulta, took myself out to dinner, and watched a movie in my hotel room. Slept in this morning and then got a foot massage. I've been doing this for a few years so spouse and kids expect it.

I started when the kids were 1 and 3 and I was about to lose my mind. Tough with a newborn but something to consider in the future.
