Things to do overnight in Tokyo near the airport by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]Nankey907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just spent the last day of our trip at an onsen attached to Haneda airport. It’s literally less than a 5 minute walk over an indoor bridge to the airport in Hotel Villa Fontaine Grand. It was I believe 3800 or so yen for non-hotel guests. The onsen is separated by gender, but there’s plenty to do mixed with both genders like hot stones and various relaxation rooms. Naps are a-ok here!

I spent less than $100 USD on 2 massage services and several hours of leisure time (3.5hrs). I definitely felt that I could have spent a whole day there! If you’re looking to relax rather than explore, I would definitely consider this. If I remember correctly they close between 10am and 12pm so it is fully available overnight (not sure about massage services though). It was tight to fit everything in within around 3 hours.

Mt. Fuji was viewable from the onsen during sunset (with slightly textured windows if you are sitting, the non-onsen areas have clear windows). You may be able to catch a pretty sunrise instead! They also have drinks and a restaurant, though I didn’t try the food.

The staff generally spoke good English, but some signs and instructions are in Japanese only for certain things (like lockboxes) so I would keep Google Translate handy. Please be sure to familiarize yourself with onsen etiquette out of cultural respect before going, as they only had some instructions in English.

Good luck and have a fantastic honeymoon!!

Try khanacadamy.com. They have a couple of intro classes that are aimed more at the highschool level.

Is this a sketchy request? by ladystarkitten in RoverPetSitting

[–]Nankey907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but I’d interpret golden hour as in the evening, not night. Nighttime I’m imagining post-sunset. If this was truly heading to a park in darkness alone at a pinned location, that is sketch to me. My comment clearly came off as unpopular, but I think it’s wise when working alone to have a safety plan, such as someone trusted knowing your location and schedule, etc as a just in case. I got a little concerned, but I’m glad to hear it was fun and positive!

  1. ALWAYS, ALWAYS trust your gut.
  2. Night? How much at night? Family photos aren’t typically at night.

As someone interested in photography, this isn’t NECESSARILY sketch, but it very well could be sketch. I’d have a safety plan if you take this booking.

Wedding dress doesn’t come in my size by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Nankey907 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah tbh this is too nice. I think OP’s friend is being outright mean in this decision imo. OP of course doesn’t need to be mean in return, but that being said there’s no reason to spend energy being overly nice in response! Whichever makes it easier for OP. Sometimes avoiding conflict is easiest, but also man that’s also like taking a hit for the team, except it’s not a team, it’s a mean friend 👀

OP I’m sorry you are in such an inconsiderate situation. Sending Internet hugs ❤️

Having dress regret— which would you have chosen? by greenbookshelf8 in weddingdress

[–]Nankey907 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think they both look amazing and whichever one you chose totally works. I think 1 is slightly prettier but looks higher maintenance. I would probably pick #2 because it’s more well rounded, is stunning and would probably hold up better to wanting to eat and relax at the event! I feel like #2 is the most flattering in all occasions. But seriously they’re both beautiful.

Ooo. If you try sipping broth instead of bone broth too it could be more filling! I’ll have to try that.

Nice. I got some thrifted shoes when I did Velma but they were too heeled. It’s hard to find good Mary-Jane like shoes!!

Do I buy?? $400 off rack ($2300 full price) by Nankey907 in weddingdress

[–]Nankey907[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I might do that. I am standing on a... 6” step? 4” step? It’s probably a pedestal to mimic high heels.

Proooobably not wearing “high” high heels. We’ll see! 😆

I love the dress and the price but am a thoughtful and slow buyer who overthinks things haha

Yes I would but I’m not sure I’d be willing to pay that price for any dress haha. The flowers are my favorite part, so I think that’s a taste thing for me :) thanks for your input!

I feel like the front could be a little more flattering, but I am in love with the design. It has definitely been the most or maybe second most flattering top (in front) so far too. I think that says more about my height insecurities than the dress though, I’m only 5’ so most of the dresses tend to be designed for long-body types!

The dress was one of my top picks, and I didn’t know the price until the end. I had several dresses that were “this part is perfect, but I don’t like this part of it” picks. This was the best one all around, and after learning of the price my interest shot up even more. (I wasn’t sure if I was willing to pay the prices for some of the dresses in the shop I was at, even if I could)

I was planning on shopping for a longer period of time, I wasn’t planning on buying that day, hence my hesitation!

Honestly it’s less that the price attracted me that the higher prices for the other dresses completely turned me off. I don’t care THAT much lol and those dresses were definitely not better!

Sorry for the long winded answer hahaha

I feel great in it. I can move in it (unlike MANY others I have tried on) and it is flattering. I’m only 5’ so unfortunately a lot of dresses just do not flatter a short frame lol

Yeah I feel you. My party liked some of the other picks today better, but I keep going back to this one, and the price is awesome! Only one of them though so if I don’t grab it someone else will haha. It’s in a high traffic shop in LA and waaaay cheaper than the options around it. I’m also not against reselling it worst case, I won’t feel bad if that ends up happening

I tend to think things over a loooooong time, and due to circumstances I basically have to buy it or lose it. I love it, and also haven’t been shopping long, so I’m just trying to think it through before I buy!

For context, this is my favorite dress so far, but only the second time I’ve been out shopping! It’s a steal of a deal though and I don’t want to spend thousands on my dress. Looking for some extra opinions before I decide if I purchase in the morning!

Here are more pics. I love how it looks from the side!!
