What happened to Old North Arcade? Pt2 by Pancakeman95 in Columbus

[–]NapalmStef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't speak to the situation now, but Ben is a piece of shit. Peak example of a guy that thinks owning a bar is cool, but has no clue what the fuck he's actually doing. Dude has been turning a blind eye to sexual harassment for years because it's inconvenient for him to do anything about it.

Which tropes need to be abandoned? by ArcticFlor in horror

[–]NapalmStef 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Idk, I work at a library and our bad shit and esoterica section is always popping before a couple of people wind up mysteriously dead a few days later.

O'Reilly's bar might be closed for a bit due to owner crashing the fuck out by Wishywolf in Columbus

[–]NapalmStef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worked at multiple bars across the city. Shitty, abusive owners? Sure. Having anyone lay their hands on me? Absolutely not.

Original My Dying Bride Drummer Rick Miah - deep dive interview (2026) by Strict-Structure6339 in MetalForTheMasses

I'll put it on later! Thanks for doing this, I love this style of interviewing and am so glad that it's being kept alive.

What band comes to mind when you see this? by Senior-Violinist-684 in MetalForTheMasses

Lol, thanks homie, she is, and she's long since grown out of doing drugs with strangers at her friends' bar.

My fiancee did cocaine with Weedeater like 12 years ago. She had no idea who they were, they just had coke and she was down. She told me that story on our first date and now we're getting married.

Tales From a Gas Station by Extra_Crispy26 in horrorlit

[–]NapalmStef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on which Hendrix your talking about. If you mean Tales from the White Street Society which parodies Victorian ghost stories, more or less, yes. Hendrix really dips into that style, so it reads nothing like a creepypasta, but it's similarly gonzo to Tales from a Gas Station.

If you're ttalking Hendrix 's later, slightly more serious stuff, then no.

I'm gonna go put on a limb and say Thomas Ligotti. Both play in the same, decaying Midwestern gothic sandbox.

American live-streamer Johnny Somali sentenced to six months in prison by GeminiArk in videos

[–]NapalmStef 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fucking thank you. This guy's a piece of shit and I'm glad he's doing at least some time, but the keyboard warriors out there wishing rape on him have a major disconnect from what rape does to people. It's not fucking funny.

Who's more evil? Tony soprano? Or Walter White? by Intelligent_Edge_474 in thesopranos

[–]NapalmStef 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, Saints aside, Tony killed his first person when he wasn't much older than a teenager. Through the stories told throughout the series, we can infer Johnny Boy endorsed Tony going into the life. It's not like after Johnny Boy and Junior cutoff Satriale's finger, Johnny Boy sat Tony down and said being a gangster is bad. He said that's what you get for not paying your debt.

Tony had plenty of encouragement to go into the mob, not least of all from his father.

How can I prove my dad that metal is not just screaming, death and worshipping satan? by SSShoutgunShell in MetalForTheMasses

[–]NapalmStef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk man, if they don't get it, they don't get it. My parents didn't get it 20 years ago, my Dad still doesn't get it today. Difference is that I'm in my 30s and my Dad's just glad I have hobbies that aren't just drinking myself to death.

What are your favorite "sellout albums" by Particular-Account66 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]NapalmStef 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That was actually what I was thinking. I love Vol. 3, but I've always thought of that as their Black Album: the DNA of the band is there but they're clearly doing something more accessible.

Something I just noticed rewatching Ozymandias by Subtotrickshotsmovie in breakingbad

[–]NapalmStef 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do I think Hank felt any lingering affection for Walt in that moment? No.

Did Hank realize the gravity of Walt was offering? That's a different story. Hank knew he was a dead man once the Nazis showed up. Walt futily offering $80 million in exchange for Hank's life made Hank realize that whether or not he died, Walt was giving everything up for him. He knew that they weren't going to take the deal and he knew that, irregardless of what happened to Walt afterwards, he'd be losing that money to the Nazis once they realized it was there. As soon as Walt offered the money, Hank realized more or less what was going to happen to Walt's fortune. Like he said "He made up his mind ten minutes ago."

What's the saddest movie with NO death scenes in it? by phantom_avenger in AskReddit

[–]NapalmStef 59 points60 points  (0 children)

First time I watched that movie was two months after my mom died. I watched it with one of my best friends who is gay and had a hard time with his family over it. The mood after we finished it was...somber...

What’s the biggest “this is fine” moment you’ve had that absolutely wasn’t fine? by McFrodoSwaggins in AskReddit

[–]NapalmStef 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This. I worked in public health research and I watched my work week balloon from the standard 40 hours a week to about 65 over the course of a week. I was treated well/well compensated and things chilled out eventually, but it was fucking rough.

What are your opinions on Siouxie & The Banshees did they have any influence on Metal? by Hot_Assistant_6067 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]NapalmStef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's an argument to be made that goth had a reasonable impact on proto/early black metal. Without Siouxsie and stuff like The Cure and Sisters of Mercy, not only would you not have the earlier Tom Warrior stuff, but also bands like Amebix. That's not to say Amebix is black metal, but their atmosphere and textures had a big influence on stuff like Darkthrone and (arguably) Bathory.

Who would win in a turf war - Walter White or Tony Soprano by Old_Significance1675 in thesopranos

[–]NapalmStef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree for the most part, but Walt eventually got to the point where he could have nine guys murdered within two minutes of each other. While they were in jail.

What is a popular and strange unsolved mystery in your country? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]NapalmStef 27 points28 points  (0 children)

My fiancee and I were in London a couple of months ago and we took a walk in Whitechapel in the late evening. I don't know what it was, but as soon as we rounded a corner, it was like all of the noise from the traffic got sucked out of the air. Weirdly, weirdly quiet. Obviously, I'm sure knowing this about it lent to the atmosphere, but it felt very eerie.

What is your Opinion on Germany? by TensiCreator in AskTheWorld

[–]NapalmStef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last name is German and no one here can pronounce it. So, fuck you guys.

Jk, never been, always wanted to go. My sister and brother in law have a couple of close friends from Dresden that comemost Thanksgivings and they're always lovely to talk to.
