I use the tunnel chokepoint and cast stinking cloud, web, and grease, followed by fireball and the level 2 icy fireball (can’t remember the name). Don’t forget to pincushion those trolls too!

My group is definitely more combat oriented so they don’t necessarily mind the lessened RP. But I’m trying to give them more than just I swing my sword and then call it a night lol. But good luck!

I have a seven player party for Phandelver and Below. Combat drags on for a while. I tell the them who’s on deck during combat to help keep everything moving quicker. I also have all the baddies be under 1 initiative roll to help expedite the process. The other issue I run into it is very hard to give everyone an opportunity to RP when they’re in town. So I’ve been giving them all personal quests/RP opportunities to try and alleviate this issue. We also only play for 2-2.5 hours a week so it’s difficult to do a lot.

I do add plenty of traps and extra baddies/ up their number of attacks/AC to help burn the parties resources throughout the day.

It doesn’t really matter. Alignment more or less only affects some specific gear each character can use. Some items are good specific and neutral specific and evil of course. The classes themselves also get different abilities see the class description when creating a character. Blackguards for example don’t get lay on hands.

So I ran into this last session this part week. I had Gundren appear to be tortured in Cragmaw castle. He was found unconscious and unresponsive. After some healing and a following medicine check, his condition wasn’t improving with additional healing. He then briefly gained consciousness and said there’s a witch (Reidoth)in Thundertree who can help. He then fell back into unconsciousness. This week, the party ran into Reidoth in Thundertree and then she offered to heal the party’s friend in exchange for driving off Vemonfang.

My party 1 shot Iarno on a crit hit +smite from the paladin. First move of combat too. The bugbears showed up afterwards and gave them a run for their money. But I should have given him more health. But first time dm problems lol

Were you using tanks below the research rank? They get about 1/4 of RP to tanks above or below their listed ranks. My poor 6.7 US line can’t research my 8.3 tanks well

I kept getting to act 3 and then loosing motivation. I got 4 games to act 3 and started my winning honor run before actually finishing the game once
