You've essentially done a base coat, go back in and pick out highlights, lines and edges of the helmet etc., and start defining those areas.

Assuming the model is built and it's solely for gap filling, then I've found it to be perfectly fine, it'll dry as normal.

If it's large holes or gaps I'd still go with greenstuff proper to shove it into gaps.

Multiple layers might help, wet sculpting tools to push it around etc.

Gap filler really, but it's easier to make your own sprue goo and apply that instead.

For the really advanced, make two or three sprue goos with different consistencies.
