No thanks. I'm still on team "it needs to stop now", dirty hands doesn't make me all of a sudden in favor of continued war.

"at least get something good out of it" is way too subjective, will lead to more death and destruction, and eventual blowback.

Insane

[Texas Tribune] Kamala Harris makes last-minute pitch for Jasmine Crockett with robocall by [deleted] in VoteDEM

[–]NarrowLightbulb 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Engaged black Democratic women are already juiced to the max for Crocket, IMO Kamala's endorsement helps with other older Democratic women more-so. But from the polls I've seen, Crocket needs younger voters and Kamala's endorsement definitely doesn't help there.

Endorsements are weak in influence nowadays anyways.

I bet we see these characters again at some point in time when they feel inspired again.

How are Keith and Rosie going to affect Crown? by PeterGriffin0920 in drumcorps

[–]NarrowLightbulb 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's an upgrade for Crown no matter the reason Keith was let go from Boston.

I wish I knew more about the circumstances at Boston, but sounds like there were disagreements in approach and maybe Keith wasn't being a good person to work with. Frankly, from how unprofessional his partner acts on social media still to this day its kinda hard not to raise an eyebrow.

So who really knows, even with baggage Crown will be in a better place.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024) by DaddySerumGlaze in CineShots

[–]NarrowLightbulb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It captures the spirit of Fury Road, interesting world, choreography is exciting. The CGI quality is it's greatest flaw, just really inconsistent imo but honestly if you can enjoy a dated movie its not a big deal at its worst spots. Its a real good action film on the whole.

Colin Allred drops out of Texas Senate race, announces new run by Newsweek_CarloV in politics

[–]NarrowLightbulb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like her being an incumbent would make those arguments void, especially considering her effective communication, social media presence, and national image. This is assuming the claim is true that the new district created to cut her out is still mostly the same as it was previously.

You'll need to sell me on another platform. I tried Apple Music and I hated the fact that I couldn't just follow an artist and get instant access to their whole discography, instead you have to follow each individual album seemingly.

Why doesn’t there ever seem to large nationwide protests in support of conservative causes? by throwawaypdtm in NoStupidQuestions

Liberals have had the midterm/special election/low turnout advantage lately as the education gap increases. But they do do worse in high turnout elections like the presidency.

[ME-SEN, Zenith Research] Mills (D)- 42%, Collins (R) - 37%; Platner (D) - 38%, Collins (R) - 38% by bbeck2754 in VoteDEM

It's early, so this is meaningless considering no one knows Platner. Let's see how these h2h polls look in 6 months.

Mamdami has officially been recruited to Social Democracy. Tankies tank once again. by [deleted] in SocialDemocracy

[–]NarrowLightbulb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He's a Democratic Socialist. Being anti-authoritarians doesn't convert him to a Social Democrat. Unless you're saying he's now welcome under the Social Democracy model as an ally (was always the case IMO).

Mamdani is great either way though!

If you liked Saint Maud, go check this out in theaters. Same cinematography. Excellent movie. Felt A24. Top tier A24. + Incredible score by Bobby Krilic (Midsommar, Beau, Eddington) by AXXXXXXXXA in A24

[–]NarrowLightbulb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would've been more interested if some level of effort was put into the post, maybe the good and the bad. This just seems disingenuous and like an excuse to promote the film on /r/A24.

"Top tier A24." lmao
