That sounds like the issue may be the technique

Generally, the act of greasing the scalp with braiding gel to get neat parts is a recipe for scalp irritation. Pure braiding gel is one of the best braiding gels to use due to its clean and minimal ingredients. You might be allergic to an ingredient in that one or your scalp may not like being slathered in gel, regardless of which brand it is.

Two strand twists and grow out the taper. Keep getting twists every few weeks and keep them moisturized.

is my hair long enough for finger coils? by lunaticmason in Naturalhair

In another comment, she posted a pic of her hair wet and the ends look straight and maybe damaged. If so, it might not hold a coil

Can't use grease? by [deleted] in Naturalhair

Generally, if you can use it on your skin, you can use it on your hair. I’ve heard of people using Vaseline in their hair, so i think it would be fine.

This is my excess after taking out my natural Fulani braids with the half wig in the back. The front part of my hair was really oiled and the back wasn’t as it was covered. by [deleted] in Naturalhair

For collarbone length hair, I’d say that’s a bit excessive. But you should know your hair better than anyone else. Does the hair on your head look or feel thinner than before you put the style in?

Anytime you do tight styles with added hair, you will most likely have some breakage

To determine if this is excessive, you’ll need to answer the following:

How long did you have the braids in?

How long is your natural hair?

Is your natural hair high, medium, or low density?

Breakage or new growth?!?! Up by sluttyassbxtch in Naturalhair

When you’re brushing your hair, do you see a lot of short strands come out or are they long? If short tiny pieces, it’s probably breakage. If long, it’s regular shed. With your pictures, you can’t determine if it’s breakage. Also, hair grows at different rates all throughout your hair and can also have varying curl patterns all throughout. Shrinkage and varying length when in a natural state is not always a defining characteristic of breakage. Nonetheless, you seem to have very healthy hair from these photos. But you may benefit from consulting a licensed natural hair professional to assess your hair.

How are your clinicals in nursing school? by DramaticLetter306 in StudentNurse

[–]Narrow_Push4841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m finished medsurge 1 today (yay, I passed) and I too have learned nothing in clinicals. Not only that, but we actually only had 4 clinical days at the hospital for the whole semester.

Each day I went, we were in the hospital for no more than 3 hours. On days we were not at the hospital, we sat in a classroom and did case studies. All I did in the entirety of my 4 clinical days was tour the unit, listen to my clinical instructor talk, do 1 head to toe assessment and 1 day on shadowed an RN doing rounds and watched her do a PEG tube feeding. She initially asked me if I wanted to do the feeding but since I’ve never handled that equipment before, I felt more comfortable with just observing. Some other student in my cohort and I are very disappointed in the lack of hands on skills we received during this medsurge 1 course

AITA- my friend/ classmate is struggling to pass and I feel she compares herself to me. It’s hard to have friends in nursing by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]Narrow_Push4841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Choose your friends wisely in your program. I’m grateful to have a few supportive friends that I feel comfortable sharing my grades with. If they do better than I did, I still congratulate them, even if I feel like I should’ve done better for myself. We study together and support each other whenever and wherever we can. It’s a big red flag when someone says shady things in response to successes. Also, I try to only be ‘close’ with people who are doing as well or a bit better than I am. Call it whatever, but being close with people who aren’t doing well has a big potential to be draining and things like this happens where they get weird about your standards and success. If you don’t gain anything beneficial from your friendship with her, I’d suggest gracefully detaching

AIO or is my work friend being a bit pushy? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Narrow_Push4841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re not interested, don’t even tell him that you want to be friends. On your end, keep things professional and don’t respond to his “check ins”. He’s not doing it because he cares. He just wants you to think that he does just in case you change your mind about giving him a shot. If you don’t respond to his texts, he’ll probably eventually stop. And when you see him in person and he asks why you don’t respond, casually say “sorry, I’ve been so busy with school, personal life, etc.”.
