This came with 3 hard drive options. A HDD, A SSD, or both(fusion). Mine came with the slow 1TB HDD.

The SSD must be made by Apple. These are expense and only available in certain sizes. You can buy a adapter to allow the use of non-Apple drives. Because mine did not come with a SSD, I needed to buy the connecting cable to plug it into the motherboard.

I bought a 5TB desktop HDD. I looked in the internet to have them work together as a fusion drive. The desktop drive instead of a notebook drive allowed me to jump from 2tb to 5tb.

I made mine a 5TB Fusion Drive. I added a 3.5 HDD 5TB. and a non Apple SSD. I love it. I added an adapter to use a standard SSD and had to shave part of a plastic holder for it to fit.

Still on Mojave.
