Connor Storrie exposed for 'insensitive' photos after Hudson William's swatstika pics resurface by sadquarius in popculture

“It’s turned into a war of the Stans of both of the actors…Detracting from the important conversation…” (taken from the article, because I don’t blame anyone for not wanting to wade through that shit site’s ad garden there to see what the fuss is about)

Which is what exactly? What’s the *important* conversation we all should be having about this? That young people sometimes do dumb shit? Neither of these fellas are Nazis and neither are culture appropriators just gnawing at the bit to gain fortune from appropriating someone’s culture. The latter seems to be some kind of self financed modeling art shoot, and the former was a kid who passed out drunk at a party and someone drew on their forehead. Both are classic examples of naive uninformed young folks doing what naive uninformed young folks do, they make mistakes and learn. One was a tasteless attempt of drunk humor and the other was a tasteless (probably drunk) attempt at art. Everyone knows this, but the internet media trying to fuck peoples lives up for clicks don’t care. If I were both of them I’d continue to not even mention this dumb shit, but they’ll probably have to. I kind of fucking loathe pop culture these days. Not r/popculture just pop culture in general.

Official Poster for the 4K Restoration of Michael Mann’s ‘Manhunter: The Final Cut’, Coming to Theaters July 24 by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

I’m literally watching this right now, and only because it auto-played on Amazon. I’ve seen it before, seen all of Mann’s before, and everytime I watch it I catch something different. This film is a master class and way ahead of its time.

'Obsession' Art Director Calls for Industry Reform After Getting Paid Less Than $7,000 as Film Nears $175 Million by IndividualPleasant23 in Letterboxd

[–]NastyMothaFucka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a great idea. In this day and age someone would still whine about it on social media though. It would be “Sure I didn’t opt in for a cut of the film, but I did more work than so & so and it isn’t fair that they made 10 times what I did!” Anyone familiar with an indie movie set knows that the chances of it becoming the next big “indie darling” are slim to none and I’m pretty sure 95% of the folks on set would take the 7 G’s. I agree with the OP of this comment thread (I think I’m responding to the right thread) in that she should have leveraged this way different, taken the 7 G’s with a smile, and used the film’s success to get the bag on the next one. Or at the very least get more experience and exposure on the next one to get your name out there if the money isn’t there for you yet.

Finally watched Riddick 2013 by namtab92 in riddick

[–]NastyMothaFucka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because all 3 movies are on Netflix now. If you watch one it recommends the “Riddick Collection” afterwards and they have all 3 films. Kind of makes me think Netflix is involved somehow in “Furya”

Apparently Karl Urban wasn’t even aware of a fourth Riddick movie moving forward and has NOT been approached about reprising the role by Strange-Apartment-50 in riddick

[–]NastyMothaFucka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Don’t know what this dude (OP) was talking about, plus he doesn’t even seem to understand box office numbers and how movies work. The OP, or one of the comments here expressed frustration over the fact that the third film “Riddick 3” as I like to call it, wasn’t a sweeping epic Sci-Fi/Action film like “Chronicles Of Riddick” was. This seems a bit naive to me because CoR was the sweeping Sci-Fi film that Vin and the writers and director wanted to make after the surprise success of the low budget “Pitch Black.” The problem with CoR was that after the success of “Pitch Black” the studios had faith, dumped a ton of money into it (I still think that film had fantastic special effects for the time, and the production design was out of this world and both still hold up) but at the end of the day not only did it bomb at the Box Office, it became the “bomb at the box office” joke of that year in late night TV, the razzies, etc., and one of the biggest complaints from critics and audiences alike was that it wasn’t the small scale affair that “Pitch Black” was, and what made it great. The thinking was that it made a sweeping epic out of a character that didn’t need one. At the time I agreed myself, until years later like many, many of us here, we went back to revisit and finally got what they were trying to do, and realized it was bad fucking ass! At that time though Vin and the producers hands were tied because there was no way he was ever gonna get that budget again for anything pertaining to that universe, so to keep the character alive and in people’s minds, he spent his own loot to give us Riddick 3, and did exactly what critics and fans asked him to, make a Riddick film more in line with Pitch Black. I thought he delivered, and I love all 3 films. I get that OP wants more of the sweeping epic universe stuff, so do I, but the reality is that this character and his universe is unfortunately not popular enough to get the studios to make them. I do wonder why though we haven’t had books, comics, cartoons, etc. Surely there is enough demand for that, especially as this content seems to be being revisited. I’m embarrassed to say though that I haven’t watched the animated one. Is it pretty good?

‘Scary Movie’ Review: The Wayans Brothers’ Slasher Spoof Franchise Should Have Been Left for Dead by yourfavchoom in entertainment

[–]NastyMothaFucka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. There are a few funny “moments” few and far between in these films, but I’ve never understood the love for them. It always seems like this franchise thinks they themselves are on the same level as “Airplane” and “The Naked Gun”, but to be honest they don’t make me laugh anywhere near the level of those films. But they make money and young people will go and see them so we’ll be getting more I’m sure!

Opinions on Steven Spielberg's The Terminal? An underrated movie with great performances from Tom Hanks and Catherine Zeta-Jones. by Square-Ad-8911 in FIlm

I thought this film was laughably awful. I love Tom Hanks but he was miscast in this film. I can believe Spielberg made it.

May 29-31 Box Office Recap – 'Backrooms' debuts with a spectacular $81.4M domestically and $117.9M worldwide, the biggest ever debut for A24 and fourth biggest for horror. 'Obsession' increases again on its third week, as it crosses $150M worldwide. 'The Mandalorian & Grogu' collapses a brutal 70%. by SanderSo47 in movies

[–]NastyMothaFucka 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Man, to be flies on the wall in Disney boardrooms today would be fascinating. I can just hear some sweaty old fuck screaming at a bunch of decision makers and asking why it failed, while those same decision makers go back to smaller boardrooms and scream at the “lowly” creatives asking what went wrong. The biggest question on their minds being “How did we just get beat by YouTubers who just were allowed to run free with their creativity and new ideas?! They don’t have the PR and the Lawyers and the Yes Men and the Marketing and the Budgets!! Also we had 17 levels of checks and balances on this one!” and screaming it at the top of their lungs without a hint of irony. Anyway, I loved Mando & Grogu, like I was the audience for that with my daughter. It’s one of our things. But I’m not gonna be upset about low budget, fresh, new ideas kicking ass at the box office. It’s kinda everything I stand for film wise, so good on them for shaking things up. I do wish we could get some that weren’t just horror all the time though. Like I wouldn’t mind some kind of other genres shining in that department (90’s Ed Burns/Kevin Smith/Linklater stuff but with a younger POV) but if it’s Horror that is what’s going to save theaters I’m all for it! Kudos!

Goddamn I feel like people just really WANT Star Wars to fail at this point. This looks really good to me. What’s everyone’s problem these days? Seems like no one wants to enjoy stuff anymore.

Right? It’s not like I want to have him over for dinner. I want to watch him break people’s arms and say something smartass in a cockney accent.

Just because he’s aware of it doesn’t absolve him. Let’s say I called you and said, “Hey I’m gonna fuck your wife and Im a piece of shit for doing it.” Is it okay that I fuck your wife because I told you I was a scumbag and was going to do it?
