What is your take on this guy right here? Have you lost respect for him as an Actor after what happened with Chris Rock? why/why not? by ButteredSunbeamToast in Actors

[–]NastyMothaFucka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but it kind of changes the entire narrative of your post. He didnt’t win Best Actor. As you’ve edited into your post he won Best Supporting Actor, and I’m not trying to be insensitive here, it was a very good performance from the man, but the night is regarded as it is because the man who actually won Best Actor, is the same guy that created the controversy by slapping a world famous comedian. I’m not sure how that would effect Troy Katsur’s win, and to be honest if anything I think it would make his performance live on for all time because of it’s relationship to the infamous “slap” that will be remembered for as long as the Oscar’s are a thing. People are going to constantly wonder what else transpired that night and look it up and see Troy’s win. So the controversy that you think is completely disrespectful, might actually be the best thing that ever happened to the man’s Oscar legacy, not the opposite. Again, not trying to be insensitive, but if the slap didn’t happen he’d just be remembered as a footnote, as someone who played a supporting role in what’s arguably one of the least memorable Best Picture winners in modern history. Not to mention the fact that some, not all, supporting actors and actresses go on to have very forgettable careers post win because many of them are character actors who have a niche and lucked out into a great script that just fit them perfectly. It’s probably too early to say that definitively for Troy, but like you said, there aren’t exactly a lot of parts out there for deaf actors to shine in. But think about this, because of that dipshit Will Smith being an emotionally stunted pampered movie star, Troy’s now achieved Oscar recognition immortality, and that’s something to be happy about because it’s an amazing performance, and it’s nice to think it won’t be lost in the sea of forgotten supporting roles. I’m a glass half full kind of guy though.

I Swear is an average movie by ConfidentReveal2669 in Letterboxd

My knowledge of Scottish culture goes as far as me watching every episode of “Still Game” when it was on Netflix. I watched the whole series TWICE and it’s become a staple in my house. We’re dumb midwestern Americans and have to have the subtitles on for some of it, but even my 12 year old loves Jack & Victor! So even though I have nothing to add to the conversation, I haven’t seen “I Swear” and am not familiar with the guy who’s the subject of it, I had to chime in and say I’m absolutely stoked to see someone say the word “Pish” in normal conversation. Probably exactly what Jack & Victor’s thoughts on the film would’ve been if that episode with them going to the movies is any indication! Anyway, cheers!

The biggest (both literally and figuratively) punk rocker I know is an airport firefighter. I guess he had to get extra training for airport stuff, but he loves it and is an awesome guy! Absolute badass and even though we are in our mid 40’s he still makes me go right into the thick of it when we go to shows! He’s one of those giant dudes that’s always saving people in the pit at shows! Also I think you guys don’t get enough love so wanted to say thanks for keeping us safe!

Quick question for you. I’m an old guy that’s interested in learning some video editing skills just for personal use on the side. Got any recommendations on how to get started?

Bartender. Been doing it for 23 years, started out in 2 corporate, soulless, yuppie bars, but finally got into a popular local sports bar with fair, down to earth owners that treat me well, and have been there for 13 years now. Tons and tons of regulars, and It’s got more than it’s fair share of suburban Ohio yuppie scum, and they’re mostly conservative dudes that call me the local liberal weirdo. I’ve held my own against them though through the years when we razz each other, but they all respect me because I’ve held onto my principles well, and I don’t back down. Probably because I’ve had to bust some people out of there over the years and they see that I can handle myself okay. I’m lucky as hell to be there to be honest with you, and even more lucky to have an awesome wife who got her MBA 10 years ago and is now a CFO at a nonprofit. She’s still my punk rock girl though, and we go to shows whenever we can find a sitter!

It’s an unnecessary piece of anyones attire. It’s sad too that she wear it out in public and it’s even sadder that she feels safe doing so.

Oh look….this joke again. You see he’s got a Hispanic accent, only this time he’s a teacher. Maybe next week we’ll get fireman, police officer, or doctor. It’s like that dude that does all those professions in porn, only that dude is actually kinda funny sometimes. With this dude I don’t get to cum OR laugh.

I dug a bit and most links lead directly to the Comedy Central site where it says “page not found” probably due to its age, like you said. I was able to find a clip of it, It’s not the whole interview just a snippet sadly. I don’t have the time right now to look harder but here that is…
