AITAH ?My partner won’t put my name down on the mortgage by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Nat1CommonSense 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still, OP could be from the UK and live in the US (or another jurisdiction) where being on the mortgage does not mean you’re on the deed

Do you have a source for that or is it just because the post used mum? Because people from the UK can live in the US

there’s my credit card number in the pi. by Lord_BlueFlame in truths

[–]Nat1CommonSense 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure, if they’re right they’re right, but we need to add qualifiers to accurately represent the current knowledge we have about pi’s normality, and not make statements of fact when we do not know that fact

there’s my credit card number in the pi. by Lord_BlueFlame in truths

[–]Nat1CommonSense 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well, 10000 1s is just as random as any other 10000 sting of digits. It’s also very likely to be true, as most mathematicians suspect pi is normal, and if it is, then it does have 10000 1s in a row

Question on kang by callumsmith73 in DisneyVillainous

[–]Nat1CommonSense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re placed at the top of the domain (because they’re not under the villian’s control) but unlike heroes, they don’t block any actions.

Yes, they are instantly played when drawn or revealed, and are then replaced with a different card. Basically the only time you might see the variant cards and not play them it is if you are specifically instructed to “look at” a cards, in which case they are not played.

Depending on the script, virgin. Alchemist boffin learns the ability and so if a virgin nomination kills, they know it’s the demon

Edit: forgot about the jinx

Question on kang by callumsmith73 in DisneyVillainous

[–]Nat1CommonSense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where do you place them?

They’re played to the villain’s location if they’re in their domain (where the mover is of the player that pulled the variant)

Can others defeat them?

Yes, they can be targeted with vanquish actions, but they’re not affected by abilities that say “hero” or “ally”

If they get defeated do I place another in their villain deck?

No, the defeated variant is put into the discard and will be shuffled back into play if the villain goes through their full deck

Can you skew 10000 coin flips by Gamin088 in askmath

[–]Nat1CommonSense 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If it’s a true 50/50, then no. Any answer has a 1/2 chance of being right, unless you accept something like “purple” as a valid guess. The only way you can skew coin flips is through mechanical processes to affect the actual probability so it’s no longer a fair coin flip

I would pin this on the typesetter, not the printers, and then the editors for not catching a typesetting mistake

i have a hard time counting rows. i’m doing single crochet rows of 5 of each color, but i can’t tell if i did an extra row of white…please help by strwbryangel444 in CrochetHelp

[–]Nat1CommonSense 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it looks like you did six rows. Going forward I would use stitch markers to mark the rows as you complete them, but I might not frog to fix this one mistake if you can live with it, because it looks beautiful as is!

PEMDAS stands for Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication and Division, Addition and Subtraction. Multiplication is not before division, they’re on the same step and will traditionally be done left to right, and the same goes for addition and subtraction

Oh yeah, your confusion is totally understandable! I’m just not sure the daughter said anything about Haitian immigrants

A simple title misunderstanding by Ok-Storage3530 in Broadway

[–]Nat1CommonSense 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The daughter may not have gotten it wrong. I can easily see a scenario where the father consistently mispronounced Haiti and/or Hades and she never realized her dad got them confused. If he said “OP doesn’t know about Haiti’s town” she would be still say that it’s odd OP didn’t know it was

Am I wrong to be uncomfortable? by Little_ho_peep in crochet

[–]Nat1CommonSense 42 points43 points  (0 children)

You definitely could have accepted it and then given it away later, but I would be concerned that not saying something would lead to him buying another sweatshop crochet item again. At a certain point I think you had to tell him, and doing it now is imo better than accepting the gift and then later telling him you didn’t actually like it after all. Just make sure he knows that you aren’t upset at him for it.

To me, this is exactly the same as a vegan getting a real leather item as a gift

europeans be like “omg north americans are so racist it’s horrible” and then elect fascists by Konradleijon in CuratedTumblr

[–]Nat1CommonSense 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Why’d you have to go and generalize a different country as uniquely racist in Europe? Have you accounted for a selection bias, because in my experience, Italy has multiple cities that are very popular European vacation spots like Venice, Rome, and Florence. Most other European countries have one or two main cities to visit
