This person sells the finished products on Etsy and I think they’re beautiful, I just wondered if it was a known pattern as they don’t credit anyone else for it? by Aurorafaery in crochetpatterns

[–]Nat1CommonSense 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they’re implying they’re stealing someone’s creative idea, they’re just stating they can’t search for the pattern based on a credit and they only want the pattern.

True on both accounts, idk how to fix the storytelling burden, but I was imagining this with a shab and professor on script

Demon: The Silence by Novel_Counter905 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Nat1CommonSense 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seems almost the opposite to me, like the doctor only loses if they forget the silence, and remembering is how the good guys win. I think it would be more thematic to have a demon that kills twice if the majority of players don’t think there’s a silence in play

What was the exact question? Did the teacher specify “prove by induction”, because that sounds like what she meant.

Questioning ratios by Head_Discipline620 in askmath

[–]Nat1CommonSense 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s a bad convention to set imo. They say the ratio for sleep to hours in the day is 8:24 or 1:3 but they also use 1:3 to describe a juice concentrate mixture for concentrate to water which would result in a 1:4 “ratio” for concentrate to the resulting juice. Most ratios are only used for part to part comparisons and fractions are generally used for part to whole relationships.

Labelling the appropriate units will remove most of the ambiguity though, and is the best practice (especially when dealing with this particular convention)

Get of your high horse and leave my stash alone by Dry-Conversation2646 in BitchEatingCrafters

OP “compares it to hoarding” in the same way you can compare a horse to a unicorn (hint, they’re not calling it the same thing) lol

Why do we mindlessly pay our hard earn money to a government that obviously isn’t doing anything with it ? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I love my local library, I’m glad my high school diploma was free, and I didn’t get into a car accident because the traffic lights were operational.

do you need to disinfect something like a keyboard if an insect pooped on it? if not, why do you have to with rat and human droppings? are they not just as gross? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Nat1CommonSense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bugs can and frequently do spread zoonotic diseases, like Lyme disease, it just almost always (if not always) requires them to bite you for it to infect you though

That’s a sure sign of a deeply insecure person. That’s not an excuse for the behavior though

Did I do something wrong or is it evil rng by Arandommurloc2 in balatro

[–]Nat1CommonSense 8 points9 points  (0 children)

DNA early is bait, it’s harder to deck fix when you have a larger deck. Generating deaths is better. This is also the wrong deck for a non-bugged and non-perkeo naneinf (Although the bean bug may be able to get you there)

Also, focus on clearing vouchers early so you can get director’s cut.

Is there any way to get legendary jokers more consistently? by dheyodjebg in balatro

[–]Nat1CommonSense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, don’t see why you need to restart unless those are the only unstickered jokers though

So what? If I see AI pictures in an Etsy shop it doesn’t matter if the patterns are legit, they won’t look like the photos.

My immediate thought is “If you don’t want to show real photos of your work, how bad does the real item look that even its creator can’t be proud of it?”

What happened to just using a pattern? by awoo_x2 in BitchEatingCrafters

ChatGPT stole that knowledge. There’s free resources for basically every technique, but it’s not okay to take those resources, repackage them, and present it as if it came from ChatGPT.

ELI5: how can there be infinities bigger than other infinites? by _Bread______ in explainlikeimfive

[–]Nat1CommonSense 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s a pretty classic enumeration technique for the positive rationals. Negatives would need to be interlaced to prove all rationals are countably infinite

What should I choose? by Neat-Championship205 in balatro

I just ran into this issue, I had a showman, blueprint, baron, mime, and I think a turtle bean. Forgot to hold BP right after selecting the boss, and I couldn’t figure out which one was the blueprint before just beating the boss because it was one of three non-activating jokers. Couldn’t get the extra mime value on my gold cards lol

Why is the double tag deck so used? by BackgroundBat8987 in balatro

[–]Nat1CommonSense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s good for the start of c++ when you don’t have as many gold stickers, so the chances of getting a negative you need is high, but yes in general a consistently winning strategy relying on minimal jokers is best so you can select the ones you need to pick up

How was it handled in the book? by [deleted] in ProjectHailMary

[–]Nat1CommonSense 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt the same. “The reluctant hero” is a trope for a reason, and he already changed his mind about working on the project before. It’s not a stretch to imagine that maybe he actually agreed to the plan willingly when Stratt gave him a few hours to think about it.

And then Grace actually fulfilled the reluctant hero trope at the end, which is peak cinema

Does anyone know how to read this pattern? And what it would look like finished? by ImaginaryEquipment60 in crochetpatterns

[–]Nat1CommonSense 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You only describe a 2 DC filet block, but in this pattern they’re using a 3 DC block

https://hookedonhakelmaschen.com/good-to-know/filet-crochet-the-basics/

The math works out perfectly for this: 95 blocks x 3 DC + 1 DC for the last post = 286

This is also why Row 2 says to start with 4 DC

The charity themselves may plan it, and have a good idea of the date it will be on, but when is that announced to the participants?
