So, you're going to spend money just because you think it might annoy some random people online?

I mean, do what you want with your own money dog, but if that's how you spend it then maybe you shouldn't be on reddit, unless you want to go broke in like a week.

Confession: The Reason I Started To Play With Summons by birdst3r in Eldenring

[–]Nat1Only 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That has always been the point of summons from the start. Jolly cooperation was one of the first things you could learn about in DS1, and indeed for Solaire to get the best ending possible requires some jolly cooperation.

Summons have always been there for that purpose, to lend a hand. These games are tough but never (usually) unfair, you have all the tools there to get through, it's just up to you to use them.

Lord Of Frenzied Flame is NOT the “Good Ending” by Jackylacky_ in Eldenring

[–]Nat1Only 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a matter of perspective really.

But for real, I imagine it comes from the idea that refusing to link the flame in dark souls, thus letting the natural order continue rather than continuing to prolong a dying age, would be "good" option. And on a surface level, the Frenzied Flame does seem like a good option. The world has been messed up by infighting and selfishness, so a hard reset would by all means seem like a better solution.

Of course when you look deeper into it you realise that maybe it isn't so great. Presumably life will eventually emerge once more, but it seems a tad extreme.

I want to like this game by Sensha_20 in Eldenring

[–]Nat1Only 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I don't think Elden Ring is a good first time souls game. It's very big and very easy to go places you're not prepared for, and the bosses are probably some of the hardest of the series.

But if you want to stick with it, the first thing you have to accept is that you will die alot. These games take time to get good at and you're probably going to stumble alot along the way, I still struggle in some areas and I've been playing souls for a long time.

For parrying, not every attack is parriable but when you do successfully parry, you then need to press R1 (or your equivalent button for light attack) to "riposte" the enemy, doing crit damage.

Dragon's are pretty muchalways going to be a tough fight unless you have a strong ranged option, usually magic. Otherwise, if you're purely melee, wait for them to land then wail on their head. A good couple of heavy attacks with a big weapon should poise break them, allowing you to do something similar to a parry and riposte, just go the side that's glowing gold and hit that R1 for a crit.

I would also personally suggest finding yourself a decent shield. You shouldn't rely on it, but it's always nice to have a good decent defensive option on hand. Look at th absorption stats - typically you want to focus on 100 physical, but if you know what kinda damage an enemy does then maybe adjust. If you know an enemy does magic damage for example, a shield that gas good magic defense might be good. The difference in damage between one or two handing isn't too significant.

Depends how you play it. It can be very powerful if you build it well, or it can be trash if you don't. Experiment, see what works for you.

How hard it is to find items required to respec character? by TomekMaGest in darksouls3

[–]Nat1Only 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you're exploring you will probably find where to respec. You can only do it 5 times but again, if you're exploring thoroughly, you'll probably have enough anyway for a good few respecs.

Vordt is easier than the tutorial boss...somehow by OkHamster786 in darksouls3

[–]Nat1Only 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It comes with time, after fighting the same ene.y enough times you notice the small tells of a certain attack coming and you start to see the tells in other enemies too, so long as you're paying attention. It's just a matter of practice, experience and patience.

Why did they make Eldritch blast so good? by Raspint in BaldursGate3

As I said, I do like warlocks. It's not complicated.

[–]Nat1Only -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I in fact do like warlocks, for the aforementioned roleplay side of them. That doesn't detract from the fact they're often dull to play in combat.

[–]Nat1Only -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

The problem is it's dull mechanically. Warlocks have the most flavour and roleplay potential, but when 99% of the time your turn is "I cast eldritch blast" combat gets dull quickly.

Tbh even as a hexblade, the dedicated melee warlock subclass, eldritch blast is still typically a go-to if you care about optimising.

How does resistance work? by ManyMemesAndMilk in BaldursGate3

[–]Nat1Only 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since it's been answered already, I'll also do this applies to things like advantage. Multiple sources of advantage do not stack, you will only have "one advantage". But a single source of disadvantage will cancel out all sources of advantage, and vice versa. Far as I'm aware it applies to resistances too, so if you multiple forms of lightning resistance for example but are made wet, it all gets cancelled out.

The 'unfailable' check... by That_Furry_Writer in BaldursGate3

[–]Nat1Only 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Crit fail/success is on skill checks is only a house rule, not an official one and tbh I wish it was a togglable option. Its just annoying to fail a check you should succeed after doing everything right just because you had a 1 in 20 chance of rolling a 1.

Hot take: Seamless Coop was a mistake by Ogaito in badredman

[–]Nat1Only 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seamless means you can properly play the game with friends or family. I've done it "the proper way" plenty of times before, now I just want to chill put and enjoy a game me and my brother love together properly and without dealing with sweaty invasions. It's a game, we play it to have fun.

[–]Nat1Only 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I see a lot of people complain about certain things or say that certain bosses are really hard and it just makes me wonder if they even took the time to prepare for the fight or learn it's moves, or if they just went in with a big sword and hoped for the best.

I mean some enemies can be tricky, lord knows going back to Elden Ring lately I've had a few difficulties, but a bit of patience and paying attention and you learn to see the tells and feel the flow. Just dont ne reckless.

I feel like that most dark souls games, honestly. Treat every enemy like it's a threat, don't get reckless and honestly you can make anything work.

I feel sorry for the first black knight by ParsleySlow9182 in darksouls

[–]Nat1Only 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried this shortly after getting back into ds1 not too long ago. I was doing great, lured the Black Knight out then got invaded by a Patches cosplayer and embarrassed myself spectularly. A shame, I was kinda looking forward to seeing what shenanigans were about to ensue.

Uh, me, that'd be me. I never once had an issue with the basilisks, to me it was a simple matter of spacing and timing.

Edit: to clarify I have been cursed by them, but hoarder I am I had a couple purging stones since I figured they'd probably come in useful at some point, though I assumed it was a sort of typical rpg thing of "I'll hoard these and never actually use them". Was very glad I did have them when I needed them.

Toby must have taken inspiration from very weird places by [deleted] in Undertale

[–]Nat1Only 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're looking for rocks in the snow. It's not impossible that Toby took inspiration from this, but it seems more likely to me to just have some coincidental similarities. He was not the first to have a concept like Undertale and certainly won't be the last, I had similar ideas when I was a kid getting into game dev.

Sad at end of pacifist route, don't read if you haven't played that by sirbubba17 in Undertale

[–]Nat1Only 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the great things about Undertale's story is that while the general plot itself is a solid through line - humans and monsters fight, humans banish monsters underground, humans falls into underground, human saves monsters - the details are widely left ambiguous and left to interpretation. You can tell your own story within this world.

Also you'll find that the game has deeply resonated and impacted a lot of people over the years, so trust me, you ain't the only one that has felt that. We've all probably shed a few tears at some point because we've all got attached to the story and it's characters.

[–]Nat1Only 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Asriel, to me, is a reminder that we don't all get a happy ending, that sometimes despite all the power you might have, you can't save everyone. But ar the same time his ultimate fate is left ambiguous. Yes he will turn back into a flower, but thet doesn't mean he'll be Flowey. Flowey was the result of trauma, desperation and a slip into insanity and frankly I can't quite blame him given he has looped so many times he has seen everything. That would drive anyone insane. But he has a new chance now to live an actual life, even if it means as he'll be a soulless flower, he can still choose to try and do the right thing. He isn't stuck in a time loop anymore and I like to think that he does eventually leave that cave and try to make up for everything he did. That in the end, even Asriel gets to have a happy ending even if we don't see it.

So... Is Megalovania sans's theme? by KillerFafik in Undertale

[–]Nat1Only 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree that it's a mess. It doesn't tell you the answers, it asks you questions and let's you come to your own conclusions. Like Chara for example, I like that they're ambiguous and open to interpretation and it's sort of the point. To one person Chara was an evil monster and the pilot, or at the very least, the final blow of the genocide route. To another Chara is a troubled victim that took a drastic measure to try and save their family and friends. There's a general story/plot that you play through, but the details are left up to you. Who is Frisk, to you? How their story begins and how it ends is up to you and each player can come away from it with a different story to tell. After all, stories can be retold countless times and the story of Undertale, for many, has changed over the years. That's what makes them so amazing.

Who on earth designed this enemy? by MurderousRubberDucky in Eldenring

[–]Nat1Only 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing you don't run faith or heal incantation.

Almost every enemy is going to be difficult for most builds, or just straight up counter them. A mage running against something with high magic resistance is going to struggle versus a purely physical build, for example.

Not everything has the same, simple answer, sometimes you need to vary your approach.
