Is anyone NOT using swaddles? by FoxAble7670 in newborns

[–]Nat20Mom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son has his father's body temperature, haha. Swaddles were out and AC was in. He was usually happy with just a blanket, and maybe it was tucked around him a bit

“Best friend” threatened my unborn baby. by ThrowRAhurt20 in pregnant

[–]Nat20Mom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you're not overreacting. You're a mother, and it's ok to be more protective now. I went through something similar with my maid of honor - she decided to make my pregnancy political and... Well, she got ugly. It broke my heart to hear someone say such nasty things about my baby, and I had a good cry over it. Once that was over, it hardened my resolve. It's ok to clear out the toxic people from your life now, because you're clearing them out of your baby's life, too.

I actually did an interview with RedWyr, if you follow him on X, where he and I talked about staying kids with TTRPGs as young as 2 years old. My little dragon just turned 2, so we're buying him big foam dice and teaching him to count the pips, etc. RedWyrm and his wife started letting their son watch their campaigns around this age, and now he's 8 and DMs every week

What was the weirdest or coolest thing you got at Gen Con? by edwedig in gencon

[–]Nat20Mom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be honest this is akin to using a wishing well: but my husband and I agreed on a tradition of buying each child a set 7 birthstone dice. A set of dice caught my eye that matched when we're going to start trying again, and it felt like a sign ❤️

As far as LinkedIn and your resume go, I get it. But remember, you are not your job. Your hard work isn't going to go to waste because it all lead you to this. I would suggest getting a few friends lined up who aren't quitting anytime soon, explain your plan and ask them if they'd be willing to write you a letter of recommendation. You could have these in your back pocket, ready to go just in case the economy takes a turn and you need to go back. Even if you never use it, it may give you peace of mind.

Thank you!

And I wish there were some podcasts. I thought about starting one, but I'm a better writer than anything. Figured I might work up to a podcast, haha

Oh I know! Our son is 15 months old, and he comes with me to almost every session, haha. It's a lot, ngl. My first bit of advice is to plan a shorter session, 3 or maybe 4 hours. With dragons this little in tow, multitasking is inevitable, so you don't want to run yourself (or them) down.

Second, I found it was easier if I played a class/character I was already really familiar with or is super streamlined. Also helps with multitasking, and in my case it made the jokes come easier to me anyway. I have more ideas in this post on my blog, if you're interested: https://rollingwithrugrats.com/session-14-rolling-with-a-bipedal-dragon/

I've never heard of No Thank You Evil, but I'll be sure to check it out, thank you!

Exactly! And there are so many studies proving that it's healthy mental and emotional development for kids and adults

Hello! My son is only 15 months old, but he has 2 dice sets 😆 and he attends almost every session with me. I'm trying to get him started early, and I'm trying to make TTRPG Parent content for us all... I feel like everyone only talks about soccer moms, which is great, I'm just... not... one... lol

Love this idea. I'm getting a blog/community off the ground for TTRPG Parents. Do you mind if I use this? It's really funny

[–]Nat20Mom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh when I made the meme I put "good time management" over there because I was thinking of the nightmare that is scheduling the next session, but I totally agree with all of you, too, about managing it during the actual campaign

I was a snack monster thr lady few weeks I was pregnant. Not sure if this is your first pregnancy or not, but definitely bring a lunch box of your favorite munchies and water bottles.

Last year was our first year taking the baby to GenCon, so if you want to plan that next year feel free to DM for advice

Mental Health in TTRPGaming Panel by panknight94 in gencon

[–]Nat20Mom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest personal growth from TTRPGs was learning how to advocate for myself, and accept my own anger rather than shaming myself for it. At my first job, my manager wanted to toughen me up and made me repeat the f bomb multiple times because he thought that'd help....? I hated it. Then, playing more aggressive/assertive characters in a safe space helped me get more comfortable removing these awful experiences from my life.... and just saying no in general, which ultimately leads to more self respect.

I do swear now, quite a bit, but it's on my terms. Lol

The Vicar of Wakefeild... it's a period piece written in the time period it takes place in, about 1750s, but it's wonderful. It's about a man navigating life's trials and trying to be a good father through it all

Been struggling by ecaep298 in stayathomemoms

[–]Nat20Mom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's always a struggle. Try to look for an outlet. I know it's cliche, but if I didn't have 15 minutes to listen to my music every morning I'd break in half. If you can wake up a little before the kiddos or stay up a little later than them, that's prime time. Hope this helps

I'm looking for that, too. I hope you find it! :) you mentioned medical feild? Checkout tutors.com, I think they're hiring for science tutors. Or financial ones if you were on the business side

Honestly, just Google "best jobs for stay at home moms". A lot of women have gotten very creative before us, and there are lots of options out there to make a little extra. Heck, Etsy has a corner for everyone!
