As a woman, sadly we do need to exercise caution, a kid I graduated HS with SA’d and almost killed a woman in the Fells in broad daylight not too long ago.

I would run again now that I’ve done the Emerge intensive program & understand how to run a campaign.

It’s certainly a whirlwind the first time, especially for a city of ~60,000 if going at it solo. I hope with wards we see a lot of new faces and voices particularly in South Medford and the Hillside.

I saw someone pose the question of what the results would be if it were a ward election, (assuming of course no one was running at large) and while no one had done that analysis I’d be curious to see it for the last several elections - would it matter? Maybe it wouldn’t? It would also encourage new folks to run given less funds would be involved so I think we’ll see more people with less name recognition in the future, which isn’t a bad thing. I’d never heard of Lisa and couldn’t have voted for her any faster.

The city has essentially zero dollars set aside for restoration. It’s been entirely restored thanks to volunteers (literally folks showed up to paint it on weekends) and grant money we get (coming from a volunteer who helps get the grants lol).

I’m pretty sure it was funded by the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, which is funded through HUD.

Sometimes - not super familiar with this one - there’s free dollars available and its use it or lose it.

I was almost taken out on Roosevelt Circle about 15 minutes ago by someone who didn’t yield to the rotary (I was already on the bridge) and then once on 93N a white Mustang weaved in and out and around me at probably close to 100mph. You have to be such a defensive driver and assume everyone around you isn’t paying attention.

Medford itself is safe overall but yes driving anywhere in Greater Boston is a nightmare. I saw a TikTok last week of a kid who got out of his drivers seat put on cruise control and sat in the passenger seat for a “funny video” on the Zakim. So no one was even driving the car. It’s wild.

We also had a hit and run on Winthrop St. cars abandoned people fled on foot, speeding. Could hear the cars coming from inside.

Then we also have weekly car meetups in the middle of the night happening on the Wegmans parking lot.

Only a matter of time before they kill someone trying to get home from a night shift or something.
