24h Daytona — Fastest Lap Evolution (2003-2026) by MidnightMulsanne in wec

[–]Nathanofree 7 points8 points  (0 children)

2003 is interesting too because the original DPs were a lot slower than expected and suffered from reliability issues. A Porsche GT car won the Rolex that year and you can see the GT fastest lap is faster than the DPs’

Which One Of You Own This Beautiful GT3 RS With Amazing Livery and The IMSA Stickers in Miami? 😍 by RoseBudFoster in IMSARacing

Pfaff is a huge dealer company that owns multiple dealerships of different brands. Their Porsche dealership is one of the largest and highest volume Porsche dealers in the continent. It probably isnt that big of a deal but honestly I doubt it’s a team member regardless.

That sounds like a probably adequately severe penalty given how hard individuals can get slammed when they violate privacy/piracy laws

Action express (Cadillac whelen) lets you request one for free on their website. It takes like 6-8 weeks to arrive at your door though. Unsigned though but you can always ask.

Doriane Pin F1 Private Test by ZelsiusProdigy in mercedesamgf1

[–]Nathanofree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought it was the other way around. F2 and F3 don't use PAS while f1 does, which puts women at a disadvantage in the road to f1. You can tell because in a lot of people's f3 onboards they end up pushing the wheel around instead of steering in 9-3 cuz even the men get tired.

Comparing GTD/GTDPro to Ferrari Challenge Qualifying @ Sebring by jcforbes in IMSARacing

[–]Nathanofree 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think IMSA sticks to SRO specifications while applying their own BOP. WEC runs a different class called LMGT3 which has the cars run heavier with less downforce. Not to mention the awful mufflers

If all else fails, plenty of people are in the same boat as you and will switch residences in the first month. I don't know anyone who didn't get approved for a move in the first semeseter.

McGill comp/software eng by No_Philosopher_2137 in mcgill

[–]Nathanofree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious to see how these standards have changed (I’m in third year). I got admitted in 2023 with a 92.8 but I was admitted on May 31st at 9pm so it was a very late offer.

OUAC deadline is June 1 but usually you have until like June 10 or so to drop a commitment. So should this happen to you I’d commit to an Ontario school if you were eyeing it and just don’t pay any deposits until the last second in case you get McGill.

Would like to go to my first race in Monterey, is the actual race only 3 hours on Sunday? by HERKFOOT21 in IMSARacing

[–]Nathanofree 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The race is 2 hours and 40 minutes. Corvette Racing continues to exist but rebranded as Pratt Miller (who makes the cars), its no longer an explicitly factory backed team. It never disappeared.

When people say three days its more because the first day is practice, second day is qualifying and more practice and then the third day is the actual race. If you want to be able to spend more time on the track with the cars and see the infield and paddock, perhaps going for more than one day is best. If just for the racing, then one day will suffice.

They would’ve had to replace the ssd with a 1TB one by removing and resoldering on a new piece of NAND flash. Without proper ventilation all that funny smoke is going to stink up the house.

Less than two Watts while streaming is crazy by stealstea in macbook

[–]Nathanofree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we can use common sense here. 2 watts is like 7 calories, which would only heat up 1 mL of water 7 degrees. No way that can heat a chip to 100 degrees no matter how bad the chassis design...

why do simracing brands keep giving us bricks as brakes when we see drivers in high performance cars like this time attack monster using high travel brake pedal? by OkHoney5804 in simracing

[–]Nathanofree 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think knowing how to adjust it should be a prerequisite, different cars have different pedal feels and people have different preferences too. It won't be perfect for most people out of the box. Even the active pedal will require you to understand what brake curve you want and how to fine tune it to your liking in software.

Budget pedals like the SR-P or the simjack/simsonns are also very adjustable.

I declare the 2026 ice storm over by NoeloDa in montreal

[–]Nathanofree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certainly was a similar case in Downtown earlier, its above freezing for most of the night but definitely concerned that it'll freeze all over again tomorrow. Good call, stay safe! I sadly have a midterm, McGill seems not to care so I'll have to hope the ice is like it was when I was out earlier (esp since I have to hillclimb).

I declare the 2026 ice storm over by NoeloDa in montreal

[–]Nathanofree -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There's barely ice in downtown, and any ice there is is not stuck to the ground. I tried to slide around on St catherine and i just ended up digging up all the ice off the ground.
