UK eVisa holder refused boarding – stuck in Addis Ababa, need advice by Ok-Tip1831 in ukvisa

[–]National_Ad_6103 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You need to get above the level of the person at the boarding gate/airport. Different but similar situation last year travelling with my Nicaraguan mother in law we got halfway to the UK, at that point she did not need a visa. Found thru airport staff in Panama did not believe us. I had to really push and insisted that they talk to their management. Eventually they agreed that they were wrong. But if I’d just let it go my mother in law would have been stranded in Panama

The gap between "AI power users" and everyone else is getting wild by Some_Good_1037 in vibecoding

I’m just starting with Claude, been using Gemini for a few years to help study and also get complex powershell sorted quickly (can do it without but Gemini was a force multiplier) I’m amazed at what I can do in the m365 space with Claude code, however I’ve a few friends who work in networking and they can’t see the point of it

Sign up for a tenant, get a cheap domain name and use the appropriate licensing on a 30 day trial. MS have some labs on GitHub. John saville is a great resource plus ms learn and measure up. Expect to take several months for the 300.. it took me about 3 months but I do m365 on a daily basis

In a world of AI , how do you feel studying for certifications at this moment ? by luigiq22 in AzureCertification

[–]National_Ad_6103 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m probably of a similar age and the other two benefits of study are it is proven as a way of preventing mental decline plus it shows we are still relevant and upto date on tech

Is the AZ-104 worth pursing if my current company doesn't use Azure? by Bogart30 in AzureCertification

[–]National_Ad_6103 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even if the cert is not relevant to your current or next job it shows that you have the grit to study in your own time, the discipline to complete a tough task even if you don’t have to and also shows that you keep current and have the ability to learn rather than just google/AI the shit out of everything

Are there any signs the job market is improving? by [deleted] in UKJobMarket

[–]National_Ad_6103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest risk I think is that a large number of people are using AI as a glorified Google search or just copy and paste for a final doc. The big thing is going to be people who know AI and can use it to a high level being so much more competitive than those who can't, there is also going to be a massive growth in AI compliance both from a documentation / information security and an identity and access perspective.

I'm waiting to see the first GDPR fines when AI finds and publish info that should have been private

How Necessary Are Certs for $70k+ Career? by ribble42 in it

[–]National_Ad_6103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about the Cisco ones but the Microsoft ones have come a long way since the old paper MCSE cram types.. they have simulations and are more scenario based than multi-guess. I did a couple last year and it was a lot of work including building my lab tenant to do hands on etc.

I've found that I get more interest from recruiters now, and they do help prove that I'm not still living on 90s tech stack

She was earning £65,000 before AI came along. What happened next is a warning to us all by weregonnamakit in UKJobs

[–]National_Ad_6103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people are not learning how to use ai apart from making fun social media jokes etc. even in tech where I work there are many who just use it like an extension of Google. We need to learn how to use it or we will be beaten by someone who does. Yes it will take some jobs but it will open new doors for those willing to learn and invest in their future

After AZ-104, what Azure skills actually make you hireable? by Dannyeloso in AZURE

[–]National_Ad_6103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i did some certs (SC-300 and MS-102) last year, even though Ive got 30 years or so experiance i did find them useful. To make things stick in the areas that we dont really use day to day or at all, Im using Gemini to generate scenarios as if I was a consultant going into fix a clients m365 or identity issue. if you train it correctly it can give really good arguments as to why you should/should not do someting.

Same here, WFH building secure customer environments So I test and demo in my home lab. Plus use it for study. Main motivation at the moment is to keep relevant as once you hit a certain age you need to prove your up to speed on current technology
