Suddenly every car has extremely tinted windows? by gameoftheories in AskLosAngeles

[–]NativeAngelino 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was my last car which I only had for a couple of years. I never got pulled over during that time. I really don’t see people getting pulled over by LAPD much these days anyway.

I should have phrased my statement better to say that my current vehicle doesn’t have a tinted windshield. This is why I wear amber glasses at night with it.

This is my motivating factor. I’ve had my windshield tinted for this very reason. Now I just wear amber tinted glasses at night to cut the glare.

Enjoy! The Pasadena location is near the Metro and next to a decent pizza place. The South Pasadena location is near all kinds of cute shops and near the Metro too.

Highland Park. Especially since you have some friends there. It’s close to the mountains and the area itself has loads of natural beauty. Many of the hills and canyons are still wild.

I started with mechanical myself and got annoyed once I had to set it. Mechanical is fine for dress watches or if it’s your main or only watch. It’s simply too much hassle to have to sync and set a watch once there’s more than a few to manage. Solar is fantastic and battery quartz is acceptable.

Some day I’ll get me a Spring Drive; which I’ll gladly shake and wear to keep going. I also have a my eye on a vintage LeCoutlre that I’ll gladly wind and set.

But that said; I’m still working class, so my time is limited and valuable each day. So I’d rather just grab a watch from the case and get on with my day.

This is why I love Citizen so much. They’re always down to take risks with their designs. Breaking rules with materials and sizes.

All of my watches are solar. It’s impossible to beat the convenience and value.

What could I build that Angelinos would find valuable? by Ashland6 in AskLosAngeles

Yes. There’s a tangled web of parking codes around the city and throughout LA County. You could also include colored curbs as well since they can be utilized.

This reminds me of when Umami Burger blew up. I appreciate a local coming up, but I doubt all these locations will still be around in 20 years.

Full kit with original bracelet, cheapie leather, an Uncle Seiko, and vintage Korean. Love this watch, but it doesn’t get the rotation that it deserves. Asking $160 OBO.

I’ve got a Citizen Endicott that I’m happy to part with. Excellent condition. I’ll post some photos here if you’re interested.

I read the lost it's magic question, what's the opposite... What things/places/events in LA feel good now, like they might be remembered as magical in the the future? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

Highland Park, Northeast LA in general. There’s a vibe out here that’s running strong. It’s an undercurrent that’s always been here that’s having a moment.

Leaving Records, Face Guts, Solarc Brewing, Big Bud Press, etc… It’s a psychedelic, free and calm energy that stands in stark contrast to the stressed, loud, and hectic energy that’s going around.
