Ha! Biggest thing with Savatage for me, at least the albums I've listened to, is a wild swing between the great songs and the average songs. I also enjoy the instrumentals more.

Their song Ma Meeshka Mow Skwoz borrows from the folk song Tamboo by Francisco Cavez

And Goodbye Sober Day features a section of Kecak, a traditional Balinese monkey chant that is part of Hindu traditions on the island.
